Columbia ETP Program 2012 entry

Hey Everyone!

I was just wondering what made people accept and/or decline Columbia? I am really struggling between Columbia and a school close to home. I know Columbia has an amazing reputation, but I am just concerned/wondering if the $40,000 price discrepancy between the other program I was accepted to is worth it. I have put my deposit down for Columbia, but really struggling on whether or not this is the right decision. Any thoughts/advice? Thanks!!!

No, its a school in CA. I am so confused, I literally go back and fourth every day. I REALLY want to attend Columbia, but I just can't decide if the $ is worth it. Did you attend the visiting students day? What are you considering when making the decision?

good luck with your decision, KKandes. I had the most impossible time trying to decide between programs. It's really difficult, I feel ya. Anyway, not sure why I'm in this thread, since I'm not going to Columbia. Just thought I'd let you know you're not alone feeling torn between programs. :)

I am leaning towards Columbia. I think the experience of living in NYC and what I perceive to be a better educated (despite the same degree) will make the cost worth it. I go back and forth a lot too though thinking about the amount of loans I will have to pay back. I think I am going to try and decide within the next week. What about you?

One minute I think I have made my decision, then I go back to the other school lol. The other program makes the most sense logistically/finances, but I had always dreamed of attending Columbia. I moved here last year with my husband on a whim with the intentions of full-filling my dream of living in NYC and attending Columbia, and now that the time is here...I can't decide :/. The cost is just such a BIG difference. I mean our rent here is tripple what it would be in CA. By all means I know we could probably find cheaper rent, but I feel like if I am going to live here, I want to LIVE here and not in a box haha...I am also a little concerned about going to school in NY when I want to end up back in CA...I don't know if it would pose harder to find a job, have you heard anything about that? Are you from the area?? I know I need to decide soon because we have to put in our uniform orders...yikes!

@KKandes What specialty did you apply for? I'm on the waitlist for FNP.

@KKandes. I declined because of the cost. I got accepted into a program that was shorter, less expensive, and I could commute. It looked like a great program, but the cost of living in NYC was what really did me in. What specialty did you get in for? Good luck making your decision!
