I attended the Diversity CRNA zoom meeting today and ----------------------- said they are reviewing applications now and will be calling ppl soon. She said the dates for the interview too. It was like 4 days. I think 10/14 and 10/15. I don't remember the other two dates.

How was the zoom? I attended a Diversity zoom back in July and it was awesome. I really wanted to participate in this one to hear from -------------------- but I had to work ? any insights on what they’re looking for at Columbia? How many spots? How many applicants ? Any information is helpful! Thank you!

Ahe said this year, they are accepting 30 applicants into the program and potentially 10 into the DNP once it gets approved.

Just to clarify so is that a total of only 30 applicant for the MSN program for 2021 and 10 applicants the following year 2022 once approved for the DNP program or is it a total of 40 applicants for 2021, 30 admitted to the MSN and 10 admitted to the DNP to start off?

Hello,

There will only be 30 applicants for the MSN program Summer 2021. And 10 DNP applicants for Summer 2021. They are looking to get the approval for the DNP January 2021. She said it is more then likely will get approval but she's not allow to put it on the website because it hasn't gotten approved yet. So for anyone who wants to take advantage of the last MSN program, there is only 30 spots this year. Good luck everyone!

Jose from admissions  said that email just basically means that we were passed because our application was complete. Jose said he has no influence in our grades.
I work at CUMC with one of the faculty who told my manager the DNP program has not yet been written or submitted for accreditation and they are not offering these spots. They don’t think they will offer this for another 2 years.  This will make 40 spots for us

Can I have Jose’s email again please? I think I’m emailing the wrong one. I haven’t gotten a response yet.

The information I post was said by Dr.. Massie and she's the director not a 3rd party..... but you guys call call to clarify ?

I just called the Council on accreditation for CRNA programs and they said Columbia cannot admit DNP STUDENTS since they did not receive an application. They said they cannot post on their website and Cannot admit only 10 students.  The lady on the phone said she has to admit all doctorate students  or none (since it’s the same curriculum) This is not true information.  Dr. Maddie was not truthful.Y friend who graduated this year said “sounds about right-that’s her” when I shared this story about Dr Maddie.

Hi!

Current student here. Columbia has recently submitted their application for DNP accreditation (probably less than a month ago), so the council probably hasn’t just taken a look at it just yet. Things have been pushed back because of Covid. The program director is very much aware of not advertising for DNP students until they are accredited, which is why it’s not on the website. There’s also been schools in the past who have simultaneously matriculate two cohorts while they transition into DNP. It is NOT the same curriculum.

I absolutely love my program director and she’s heavily active in the nurse anesthesia  community. I say that to say she plays by the rules and wouldn’t relay false information. Keep in mind that nothing is set in stone, this is all conditional depending on accreditation, which I’m sure she’s stressed it. Either way, if you are truly interested in applying to this program, bad mouthing the program director isn’t the way to go. Keep in mind that faculty do look at these forums occasionally.

Good luck in the rest of your process!
