Columbia BSN/MSN ETP 2014

Published

I was surprised that there didn't seem to be a thread for this year's applicants to Columbia's ETP program. So I thought I would start one. The information session was today, but I wasn't able to go. :( I was hoping someone else went and would be able to post any admission statistics or tips for the personal statement they gave.

I got MGH to agree to me sending them the deposit by tomorrow night! C'mon, Columbia! Tomorrow needs to be the day. We're all obviously having trouble focusing on anything else.

@Lcrown: MGH for BSN or MSN? Either way, good luck with Columbia!

Just the ABSN. They don't have my specialty over there so I didn't apply to their ETP.

So no decisions today but all hope is not lost tomorrow is my daughter's birthday and just like she was special I know the receipt of this acceptance to Columbia will elicit such great emotion.

Whooop! Another day another chance to get a decision :)

I am happy to be wrong about my numbers. I attended two info sessions and they didn't make it seem like they had such an abundance of applications.(cost?) In fact, they blatantly said that it is hard to recruit MSN(I know most of us are ETPer's) students. Maybe I was stuck on the total tuition numbers and missed the applicant numbers portion of both sessions. I do, however, remember Jose saying that they didn't have the time to interview all of the applicants, so it must be quite a bit.(more than 2XX?) Further, we don't know what they consider an "applicant". So, while they may get 800 people, only 300 may be considered complete applications. For example, they talked about how many incomplete pre-reqs would mean an automatic denial, because it is hard to imagine that one would complete the remaining pre-reqs within the remaining time. Starting next year, applicants will need to have 3 science pre-reqs, i think, completed by the deadline.

So, I should have put all of this in my previous post and I am not married to anything that I post.

Did they really tell you they have to recruit for regular MSN? I applied for regular MSN, already have my BSN, and I would love for that to be true, but I find it hard to believe!

@hollysf: Do you remember what time of day it was that you heard a decision from Columbia last year? Was it morning or afternoon?

Someone earlier in the thread said it was afternoon, I believe. It's impossible to tell from last year's thread but afternoon seems logical.

Yeah I got that from something someone had actually written in a post since there are no time stamps on those threads.

For the love of God... Please don't make us wait over the weekend. Though I do remember my Yale interview notification coming on a Saturday? Wasn't there someone on this thread who had "insider" info as to when decisions would be out?

So according to last years thread, the last person to comment without a decision being made was a little before noon... the next comment which is someone saying they got in was posted at around 4pm... its possible people found out sooner but didn't post to the thread... but thats what we can tell from the thread. if you scroll over the date and leave your mouse on it for a few seconds it tells you the time the post was written. I have been doing a lot of that... haha I'm obsessing and its NOT good. haha.

Here is a question to distract everyone (i cant find my notes.) How long is the ETP program? when would we be graduating with our MSN if we do the program full time? thanks!
