I was surprised that there didn't seem to be a thread for this year's applicants to Columbia's ETP program. So I thought I would start one. The information session was today, but I wasn't able to go. I was hoping someone else went and would be able to post any admission statistics or tips for the personal statement they gave.
Theoretically speaking, we'd take the NCLEX RN after the ETP portion and then we'd take the specialization (of our choice) board exam to become NP.
The nclex pn does not apply to us because its for vocational or practical nurses for example LPN. They'd have to get a bsn and take the NCLEX RN to become registered RNs.
Hello all,
I am new to this thread and also a 2014 ETP Columbia hopeful! I have been lurking on this website for quite some time and I guess the waiting has motivated me to finally create a log in. I was wondering if anyone in here knows if they will also release some sort of waitlist on decisions day? I read above that we will receive an email telling us to log into our app to see the decision, do you guys think it will also have waitlist info? For instance: "Admission status: Admitted / Waitlisted / Nay"??

hey you guys! so this is a stupid question, but if we're doing the ETP BS/MS program . . . for example, I'm doing the Midwifery concentration/specialization . . . do we take the NCLEX-RN in the middle (after the 1st year or so), and then take the NCLEX-NP after the Master's portion and after we graduate? Or do we just do the NCLEX-RN in the middle, and then do our Master's portion in the specialization we applied, and then graduate as just an RN with an MSN degree? I know that in every state it varies, but THINK (?) that in NY advanced practice nurses (which is what we're applying to be) is an NP? any thoughts on this is much appreciated! thanks 8)
