I have seen some coloring books that are labeled for Anatomy and some that are labeled for Anatomy and Physiology. Is there a big difference? Or is it just personal preference? I would assume that as long as you get a decent one that covers all of the systems then you'd be ok right? Or is it good to just ask an instructor on his/her recommendation?

Kapit and Elson seems to be the gold standard (it was the original anatomy coloring book). There is a separate physiology book by Kapit and someone else. I took anatomy and physiology separately and used the anatomy one a lot, but only flipped through the physiology one a couple of times. That was partly because I was taking the class in summer school and didn't have time, and partly because I found the coloring book format a lot more helpful for anatomy.
Thanks for the info! My classes are Anatomy and Physiology 1 and then Anatomy and Physiology 2... The two topics are not split up.
Sorry for this post. I've deleted its previous contents as I didn't know that the message before this one had actually gotten posted. My computer futzed up.

Hi MikeInCO,
I'm using the Kaplan medical Anatomy coloring book and it's working well for me. The pictures are very clear. I'm currently in Anatomy & Physiology. I don't know about the A&P coloring books, I wonder how much a coloring book/drawing can cover about Physiology... :stone
It's nice to be able to just go in and fill in the blanks even if you don't feel like coloring. Sometimes I use colored pencils just to reinforce the area and to have something different to do with my studying. It's a refreshing and welcomed change.
Mine was $19.95 at Borders.
Good luck with A&P! It's a challenging but fun class.

I have the one by Elaine Marieb and it's really good. It's more than a coloring book though, there are worksheets and all the answers are int he back so I've found it to be a great study tool.
I found mine on half.com for about $10, it had just a couple things colored in which didn't bother me in the least.

The Anatomy AND Physiology ones have diagrams and pictures of the pathological parts of A & P. I found mine to be pretty helpful.

I like the anatomy and physiology ones. They can be time consuming, especially if you have ocd and feel the need to complete every section. :rolleyes:But, if you can discipline yourself to use only the stuff you need to, these really are a great resource for those of us who learn/remember in pictures. The cost is minimal, so go ahead and get one.

I also use that one. I love the fact that it has problems/worksheets that you can do, they are very useful. The diagrams are clear and they easy to color. My A&P lab quizzes are on the computer and a lot of diagrams they have are pulled from the book and used for labeling questions. Not to mention the worksheets help me in lecture also.
Wow! Well thanks everyone who has contributed! I didn't expect as many results as I've gotten so far. And I'll keep these authors/titles in mind when I start my A&P class in the Fall. The books seem like they would help me. So I can't wait to pick one up.

I bought a coloring book for A&P, but found I really didn't use it much. My professor would make us responsible for knowing certain things, but all the other stuff in the pictures just made it confusing.
What I found that was so valuable for A&P was cheap small dry erase board from Walmart. I would use the pictures from my notes, and from the text that we went over. I would draw them on the dry erase board, and label them...I did this over and over again. It works so much better than just coloring.

Thats an interesting idea. I have never thought of that. Hmmm thoughts to ponder. LOL Did you ever use flash cards in A&P 1 or 2?
