Effective Aug. 1, state services, including the state health plans and welfare, will no longer be given to illegal immigrants in Colorado. This law, enacted by Gov. Bill Owens, in considered the 'toughest in the nation' and other states are expected to follow suit.
A study by the National Academy of Sciences also found that tax payments generated by immigrants outweighed any costs associated with services used by immigrants.
If they are here legally this is wonderful. If they are here illegally THEY ARE BREAKING THE LAW!!!! They should not be rewarded for breaking our laws. The employers should not be rewarded for hiring them PERIOD. They should NOT have access to FREE or LOW COST government sponsored services or goods including schools and healthcare. The people who are here legally should have access and that access should be easier to gain than it is now. Immigrants who are here legally, I have absolutely NO PROBLEM with them. It's those who are here illegally that I have a problem with as they are breaking the law and getting AWAY WITH IT.

again....this talks about immigrants not "illegal immigrants". this is like comparing apples and oranges. you can quote but you cannot make up the fact to suit you.
it is criminal to sneak into our country illegally and expect to be entitled to the same priviledges that we enjoy because of the millions of americans's who died to preserve our freedom.
It would be much cheaper and more effective to actively hold the employers responsible for following the law. Molly Ivins has some great columns posted over at alternet.org about immigration and reform.
Man, I miss Molly Ivins. She always had such a way of cutting right through the BS and illuminating the ridiculous. Really, really miss her.
