Collin County College Fall 2012 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

I applied to Collin College for Fall 2012 just want to see who else is in the waiting boat? I have 15/16 points, 4.0 pre-reqs, 3.8 overall GPA, got 5/6 on PSB, wasn't too happy about it. I am really stressing about it, one minute I think I will get in for sure, another minute I am trying to figure out my Plan B, in case I don't. And honestly I haven't come up with anything so far :uhoh3:

I am also applying to Grayson but Collin is my number one pick, besides the fact they have excellent program the schools is 15mins away from me. Grayson, on the other hand, is about 1 hour away :(

Good Luck to everyone who applied.

Agnes

Yes my friend called as well today and they also told her March 14th. So looks like the countdown is on, eeek!

So since I am bored and cannot stop looking at this dang forum, anyone have any celebration plans for acceptance? I told my boyfriend to save some money and take me somewhere really nice like Jasper's in Plano but at this point I am pretty sure jumping around screaming for 20 minutes, and calling all my friends and family will be enough. The wait really is terrible! Luckily I kept myself preoccuppied the last week by reading the Hunger games series(despite the fact I should be doing homework)! I am trying to enjoy my fun reading before August! Anyway I guess if any of you are as bored and crazy as me let me know your plans! Hopefully only 8 DAYS LEFT!!!!!!!!

I love the Hunger Games series. I can't wait for the movie!

I hope, hope, hope we get our letters by next Friday. I am thinking if they mail them on Wednesday, they could come as early as Thursday. I think that a friend of mine that also applied and I are going to go out and celebrate Friday or Saturday. Our applications were very similar and I told her we would either be celebrating or drowning our sorrows! Other than that, no plans.

I got accepted into the summer CNA program so I will be doing that for the month of June. I am praying that I will be able to find a part time PCT job in a hospital so that I can gain some experience (and money) while going to school next fall.

This waiting game is horrible! I have been checking this forum non-stop out of boredom as well.

I wanted to do the CNA program in the summer as well but I thought the deadline was a lot later than it was and I realized about 2 days before it closed. I called and asked if it was even worth applying since it is first come first serve and they said it was already full :-( boo

I don't have any plans for celebration just yet as I don't want to jinx anything. But putting in my notice for work will be enough of a relief :-) I have been trying to get out of this job for a year. It's a great job, I am just burnt out on all the driving from McKinney to downtown Dallas everyday with my toddler.

Isn't this wait horrible...although I only have one class that is just way too easy (I feel like I am back in high school) my kiddos keep me busy, so that helps a lot.

As for celebrating...nice bottle of champagne, wish I could celebrate but being a SAHM, staying up late and partying it just doesn't sound that appealing anymore. Taking care of 2 busy toddler boys and my 8 year old would be a nightmare :) so no going out for me. And of course I will be calling my hubby, my parents and all my friends and jumping up and down, screaming, my kids will think I am nuts. My 8 year old asked me today if I got my letter already, she is such a sweetheart :redbeathe

Hoping that this time next week all of us will be celebrating and getting ready for our journey to become nurses. Good luck everyone!

I have 15 points (Micro's in progress), took all my prereq's at Collin, have a BS, and live in Collin County.

My husband said we'll celebrate by going to Adventure Landing and playing miniature golf and arcade games. :)

Hey guys! I heard this rumor from a friend who also applied for Fall 2012, that we would be mailed our letters on the 14th. When I heard this, I just knew it came from allnurses.com so I searched and found the thread she must have read it from! I have been using this site to find out information about becoming a CNA which I did in January of this year. I was licensed Feb 9th and am now working full time as of March 6th!

I read the entire thread and noticed some of you were wanting to become CNAs and do it through Collin - which is a great idea! I wanted to do that as well, but they did not offer it over our Winter Break. I did some research and enrolled at the Brightside Institute in Plano and was able to complete my class in only 2 weeks! So for those of you who missed the deadline for this summer at Collin, go to bsinursing.com! It is quick and you will be able to test with the state after those two weeks.

Like I said, I was recently employed in a nursing home, because with no prior CNA experience it is literally the only place you will get an interview at, and I am really liking it so far! I plan to continue until we start in August 2012 - god willing I am accepted.

So sorry that I have written so much but I also want to include my stats for when I applied. I had 15 points, I live in Collin County, am a 20-year-old male, and had my CNA license in time for the deadline (not sure if that matters at all). I am really hoping that I get in, but I loved reading this thread and I hope we can all celebrate or prepare for the future together next week when we discover our fates! ;)

Thank you so much for the info...I did look at their website and noticed they also offer weekend classes, which is perfect. Will see how things turn out next week, if don't get into Collin's RN program I think I will take the class in the summer. Once again thank you!

@JCT1991 - Did you take A&P I in the evenings over the summer at SCC?

No my lab was in the evenings with Shannon Mathis, and my lecture was with Mark Slivkoff; both of which are at the Central Park Campus in McKinney.

Tomorrow could be the day we get our letters! Be sure to post when you receive yours!

Just want to say good luck to everyone one last time! I am a nervous wreck! How is everyone holding up?
