Collin County College Fall 2012 Applicants

Published

I applied to Collin College for Fall 2012 just want to see who else is in the waiting boat? I have 15/16 points, 4.0 pre-reqs, 3.8 overall GPA, got 5/6 on PSB, wasn't too happy about it. I am really stressing about it, one minute I think I will get in for sure, another minute I am trying to figure out my Plan B, in case I don't. And honestly I haven't come up with anything so far :uhoh3:

I am also applying to Grayson but Collin is my number one pick, besides the fact they have excellent program the schools is 15mins away from me. Grayson, on the other hand, is about 1 hour away :(

Good Luck to everyone who applied.

Same here! The waiting game is horrible. I applied with 15/16 too. 4.0 prereqs, 4.0 overall and just finished the AS through Collin, 6/6 PSB. I'm hoping all of this gives me a good chance but I am worried about there being all 16s this time. Sounds like you have a great chance also. I'm currently taking Micro and nutrition and will take Chem in the summer so that if it falls through with Collin I can apply to the TWU BSN program for Spring 2013.

Good luck to you!

Hi There :) I am very hopeful but very worried as well. I took Micro last semester with Dr. Weis she was very hard but I did learn a lot, who do you have? I will be applying to TWU for Spring 2013 as well if it doesn't go through with Collin or Grayson, I am going to take Nutrition during the summer semester, online, who do you have now?

Best of luck to you :)

I am in the same boat also!!!! 15/16 points and the wait is literally going to be the death of me! I have been stalking this forum and am driving myself more nuts hearing about people with 15's who were wait listed! I guess there is nothing more we can do than wait. From what I hear most or all 15s get in so the odds are with us! Good luck and post right away when you get your letters!!! :)

Thank you hb08491! I will definetly let you know once I hear anything, please do the same :) Best of luck to you!

I don't think we're supposed to put professor's names on here but if you p.m. me I'll tell you who I am taking. Online nutrition is very easy and not time consuming at all. I would have preferred to take it in a short semester because right now I am just sitting around waiting for the test dates. I have done everything else already.

I am taking Micro on M/W nights in Frisco. My first test went ok but I'm more worried about the lab practical coming up. Nice to talk to you guys! Let's keep each other updated!

I have heard so many different things regarding 15s, 16s and even 14s getting in while others get wait-listed. I think that living in Collin County and having a previous degree would put a 15 with those above a 15 that is in Dallas County for instance. But who really knows?! I also applied for the summer CNA program so that hopefully I can get a part-time job as a PCT while in the program (if I get in) and get some hospital experience.

Oh wow, that is good to know, I have Associate Degree in Science from LOOOOOONG time ago (read 11 years :icon_roll) and I live in Collin County. Now I have even more hope :) If I don't get in this time around I am thinking f doing CNA in the fall, since I don't have any other classes to take, the only thing that could pump up my points is to retake PSB and get 6/6.

As for Micro oh yeah I remember those dreaded lab practicals, but most horrifying thing for me was the unknowns toward the end of the semester, as much as I love science I am glad I am done with Micro. Hang in there I am sure you will do great.

Yeah, lets definitely keep in touch.

I am in the waiting game as well. I should have all 16 points and I am still nervous. I have really bad grades when I went to a University several years ago. Even though that was a long time ago and I have retaken all that I need for this program and made all A's, I still feel like it might come back to haunt me. Does anyone know typically when letters go out? I think I read somewhere on here that it is middle of March usually. Man, I am a nervous wreck! I have put all my eggs into this basket, eeek.

I would not worry too much Barbie. Depends on what your previous terrible grades were in. I do know on the things that count toward admission they will average your previous grade with the retaken grade. The other stuff won't matter much. What will matter in this situation is your PSB score, whether you live in Collin County and took your classes at Collin and whether you already have a degree or not.

I didn't do well my first time around in college. Did great in college as a grown up and got in on my first try. Now graduated and working.

Collin usually sends the letters out one to two weeks after the timeline they post. Good luck everyone!

I did take Micro in college previously and got a C but it was 7 years ago so it didn't count since it was so old. So, hopefully they won't average it. The other pre-reqs I hadn't taken (although I did take Biostatistics but that really wasn't the same class and that one was even longer ago) and all the co-reqs I got As. I do live in Collin county and took all my pre-reqs (except A&P I) at Collin, but I am 6 hours short of my Bio degree as I ended up failing two classes my final semester because I decided to take 21 hours my final semester to finish and ended going through a horrible breakup of a long term relationship. Not the best time in my life.

Well....LOL...now that you all know my life story :lol2: Thanks for the response not.done.yet good luck to you all!!!

Not.Done.Yet....

If you don't mind me asking where did you get the info about averaging the retaken class grades? Do you work for Collin County because I was told by an advisor if a class is retaken they take the most recent grade even if it ends up being worse than before. I was just curious because I only retook one class (which was not a pre-req) and brought the grade from a C to and A. If they do in fact average the two grades that would be the difference for me making a 15 or a 14. Sooo just curious where you heard that, or if that is just something some colleges do?
