HEY Folks!!
Just wondering how many of you there are out there who have applied for the accelerated Summer ADN Program at Collin College! I have not seen anything posted on the web and I would love to get in touch with everyone!
So excited!
I am not so sure about this Titer thing.... I spoke to the recruiter and she said as long as you have your shot records that that is fine. I think the website would say if they specifically required titers.
So I went to their office about November to inquire about this and (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) (i think thats her name) okay'd my shot records... I keep hearing contradicting things so I went ahead and got my titers done today... Better safe than sorry, and with us starting in about 7 weeks I would hate to get denied because of it...!
Additionally I've heard its not the program that is having problems with shot records, its the clinical sites that are needing them from you so you can do rotations at their facilities!
I spoke to the clinical coordinator directly who is responsible for the coordination of immunizations and she said this is a new policy. On the sheet they gave us it says in black bold letters blood titers only and you must provide actual lab that illustrates positive immunity. Rule of nursing as I am an LVN already you always go by what is documented not by what is said. Since they gave us a paper that specifies this that is what I am going by. I recommend reviewing that sheet and verifying for yourself. Always better to be safe than sorry.
There is a chart on the nursing website for collin that breaks it down. I believe supplies and such are around $3000, as far as cost per credit, I'm not sure, but it was listed also based off of what county you live in. Have yall been told when clinicals will start for yall?
The classes should cost you around $370 (for 1st semester in-county) and the books will be $1268 but its for the entire Nursing program. You will also have to purchase a drug book and a nursing diagnostic book as these do not come in the bundle at the book store. Also keep in mind you will have to purchase your uniform which is around $86 if you get a lab coat with it. You must also have all white shoes and there will be a medical supply bag which is purchased through the school and it is $245, it too will last for the entire program. 1st semester I spent about $2000 (I also purchased a few scrubs and school supplies), however, that is the bulk of the money you will spend, the proceeding semester will mainly be tuition which is pretty reasonable if you are in county as I am. I hope this helps!

I don't think we will know about clinical's till at least orientation.. But since the semester will be shorter than the normal length I am assuming we will be starting them pretty quick!
