College of the Sequoias (CoS) Fall 2023

Updated:   Published

Hello future nurses,

Just wanted to start a thread for Fall 2023 College of the Sequoias nursing applicants. Good luck to everyone applying. Fingers crossed for us all ?

Specializes in Nursing.

What other nursing programs did you guys apply to. I only applied to COS and the program in my area (Cuesta nursing program) .

Hello, I also applied to the LVN to RN program.

Specializes in Lvn.

I hear cos and west hills pull from different areas of points like top people and also people who scored lower points. These are good schools here along with fresno city and Porterville college

I hope so , I didn't do great on the TEAS but I did do well in my prerequisites.

I applied to FCC but don't really want to go there... gonna apply to merced as well once it opens in march. Missed the boat for Fresno State cause I hadn't taken my TEAS yet. Really bummed me out. I had a 4.0 and a 96 on the TEAS, so I think I would've had a really good shot at getting in there ?

Wow that's good scores and GPA! How many points did you end up applying with?

Nice scores! I just retook my TEAS today and got a 95.3%! Next application period I will be applying with 82.5 with no life experiences.

For new students to COS, what major does it say for you on your degree works? I don't remember if we had to pick a major.

Only 77.5, unfortunately. My stupid *** let my phlebotomy license lapse, I don't have another degree, and my spanish is... less than desirable LOL. I do work in healthcare though, so there's that. Drives me crazy how different the points systems are for each school!

Coming from FCC, they make you say you're a pre-allied health major until you get into an RN program.

Unrelated, but if people don't mind me asking.... how old is everyone? I'm 34. It took me a while to believe I was capable of becoming a nurse, so I never tried. Had a kid (who's now almost 11), and life just kind of got in the way. Correctly diagnosed and saved my only parent's life four times, only to discover I was right in my final diagnosis for him- vascular dementia. I'd already started my pre-reqs (he was diagnosed late this last Summer), and now it's like a race against his disease to get my RN license. Hate to say it, but if I don't get in somewhere for the first round, I'm gonna do National University. I like what I've seen of their program, but the costs are nausea inducing! My ultimate goal is to become a nurse practitioner, so the less in debt I can be while getting my RN, the less the cost of school later is going to hurt.

YAAAASSSS helluva job!! I hope there's no app period next year for either of us, but with 82.5.... I really don't think they could reject you. What'd you use to study this time around? For me, I'd finished all my pre-reqs as of like December something. Took the A and B practice tests to hone in on where I really sucked, used Brandon Craft's website to "fix" my math and peppered my aerospace engineering (or whatever it's called) majoring best friend with questions about math/geometry crap I had no understanding of, checked out nurse cheung's chem TEAS video to zero in on exactly what chem to focus on, and paid for mometrix academy's crap. I took zero of the lessons it included since I already had the book, but it came with 9 practice tests. They were EXCRUCIATING and so so so much harder than anything else I'd worked on. Mometrix academy's tests had me so jacked, by the time it came to the test, I kept thinking I was getting punked. Like no freakin way they're not gonna ask me these super complicated questions, I muuuust be missing something here.

I'm coming from FCC too. On the COS website it says registered nursing for my major so it got me confused. I'm 36 and my oldest turns 11 tomorrow! My goal is NP too! So much in common! ? I believe you will get in somewhere soon with your scores. Sorry to hear about your parent.
