Has anyone applied for the ABSN for Summer 2017 ?

Hello everyone ,

hope everyone is ready for this summer ..I'm tryna have all my fun before June because Lord knows we won't have any lives from this point lol ..anyway I wanted to kno if anyone on here will be living on campus ? I'm from out of state ...

also did anyone register for the May 17 or 19 session ? According to Ms Brown who is one of the advisors it's not mandatory to go but we def have to b at the June 6 orientation

@raspberry ,

hey hun hun if possible can u upload or show us a copy of how your first aide card for pediatric and adult card look like ..I'm confused on whether to get two cards seperately or wat? I already obtained the BLS card so I'm ok with that . I spoke to Someone from the nursing department and they told me to contact American heart association :no::sniff:

@Shimmer24

I am under the impression that they are cutting a few credits from the curriculum and shuffling some classes around, but this is just speculation. It hasn't been confirmed. I saw a course schedule but I am not sure if what I saw is going to apply for the incoming class.

@slsu no you only wear scrubs to clincial. They told us to wear it the first day of class but this ended up being false.

@Miszz_k I got mine from the American Red Cross. After you complete the class they give you a printed copy of your certificate (its one sheet on regular 8 1/2X11 computer paper). The certificate says "Adult & Pediatric First Aide/CPR/AED." Im not sure how it works for the American Heart Association, sorry. :(

I did the American Red Cross because they offer a combination class with everything that was required by CNR in one course.

Oh okay thanks a lot .. will look into that @ raspberry1

Miszz_k, I don't think you can take a class that combines BLS and adult/pediatric CPR/AED. I remember reading from an e-mail that Ms. Bimbo sent that you have to take two separate classes. I e-mailed copies of my card to her to verify that I took the right class. She really is so helpful and great to work with. If you haven't spoken with her yet shoot her an email.

Also- I am going to advisement day on May 15 from 10-12. When is everyone else going? I wonder if this is a group session or everyone has their own personal session?

@caseyiorio oh okay thanks a lot ..yea I already took a class for the bls for healthcare providers so I already have that .. my issue now is the first aid card for adult and pediatric ..can you send me her email on here ..been trying to get in touch with the school but for some odd reason today the lines are messed up ..and I registered for May 17, I think it's a group thing

Never mind..I got it ..she answered right back

first of all i will like to thanks you guys for all the info. i have been accepted for the summer session. i am working on my requirements right now. i have questions regarding housing. i am from maryland i have no clue about housing in that area. do you guys have some links?? or off campus housing that you can recommend? i will be there on may 15 for the orientation i hope to meet some of you there.

Ckuete, you can definitely find plenty of apartments on Craigslist- Westchester. The downside is everything is pretty pricey. If you are going to spend the money though, I would find a place in new rochelle, mamaroneck, larchmont, eastchester. I would try to stay as close as possible to new rochelle because traffic at rush hour on i95 or the hutch can be awful. I live about 45 minutes north of new rochelle. I was considering looking for an apartment but I'm going to see how commuting is the first semester and maybe after that consider a place for the rest of the program.
