College of New Rochelle Accelerated Program

Published

Hi everyone!

I have been looking around the site for info on the College of New Rochelle Accelerated program and there doesn't seem to be too many people applying or in the program.

If anyone has any information about this program (how competitive it is, if it is any good, any other relevant info) it would be greatly appreciated! :)

Hello,

Guys you may like to check college of mount saint vincent in riverdale, bronx. They have nursing as a second degree program, I don't remember how long the program is. It is much easier to get into than CNR. For cost of tuition, I think it is about the same as CNR. One of our payroll clerk just started it in february.

Good luck.

Ok guys, did a little all nurses research on CMSV (above post) and

1. Gpa required is 3.0

2. They give pref. to their former students and BMCC students

3. It's across town from CNR so more traffic (7 miles)

4. Electronic registration, but same office BS

5. Program appears to be BSN and. 2 years or more.

Thanks for the suggestion, it's great to have many options!

I currently attend CNR (2nd degree BSN program). There were no options to test out of the Intro. to Computers course. I would suggest calling someone in admissions directly (and getting it in writing). In fact, always get whatever they tell you in writing. It will SAVE you from many hassles.

Did you start the program last June?? Did you take the class at CNR? How is CNR's accelerated program??

Nursebar..

For the College of Mount Saint Vincent, they do not accept any grades below a "B", so everyone applying, please make sure that the grades for your prerequisites are a "B" and better..

Hi Ms L,

I actually started this semester (Spring '09). I am doing the individualized track, which I have arranged to be similar to the accelerated track just with a different start date. If all goes well, I will be done at the end of summer 2010 (just about 18 months).

I took the Intro to Computers course at a community college prior to enrolling at CNR, since I had not taken an equivalent course to obtain my first degree. It was a weekend class and was way cheaper than any class at CNR.

One word of advice regarding the prerequisites...make sure to have a copy of the description or syllabus of any course for which you wish to receive credit.

Mz A,

Agh, now I have questions for the administration, I mean am I the only one worried about how you complete an 18 month program with worrying if you will get the classes you need. Ahh, I'm having memories about undergrad....let's just hope there is priority registration...yeppers hope.

Just to give you an update on registration...I was recently able to register for both summer and fall. Now I just have cross my fingers and hope that enough students registered for the summer session for it to happen.:uhoh3:

Mz. A,

How were your grades and GPA when you applied to CNR? I called yesterday and they said that the decision letter will be mailed on May 2, 2009 and then again on May 26, 2009. I'm really hoping to get accepted because I REALLy want to go to CNR, just hope that its in the cards for me. This is the only school that I applied to that requires the students to take a computer class. What is weird is that I spoke to someone in the nursing department that called me to check if I had complete two classes and they never mentioned anything about the computer class. I attend SUNY Binghamton and we do not have a computer class. What exactly did you learn in the class? How much did it cost you?

I also called today and was told that the May 2nd date is most likely the second week of May, and the latest May 26th. Am I the only one bothered by the changing dates they keep giving? At the latest May 26 gives the applicant one month (start date 6/29/09) to get ready. That means securing finance, somewhere to live, and trying to get books, all in one month only. I wonder if this is the final date or if this is it. As long as they let us know before 6/29 right!

Agreed! This is starting to cut things a bit short..

Does anyone know how the schedule for the accelerated program is organized? Which classes get taken over the summer, and in each semester?

Okay, so I called....again. In regards to the may 26th date some of us were told, and here's what I found.

1. Carmen is tired of all of us calling...

2. May 2, those who applied to the accelerated program and were accepted, will receive our packets, which are mailed out the week of may 1.

3. May 26, refers to those accepted into the individualized track. So those not accepted into the accelerated track may be offered a seat in the individualized track.

So re-adjust the countdown were still in the running for the week of may 1. And if anyone is like me, living in Nassau county long island, you've already figured out how long it will take to get there LOL. I can't believe the wait is almost over. Anywhoo good luck everyone, this has been a super strange experience.

Hi Everyone,

I am at the stage where I am waiting for them to get all of my documents before May 8, 2009. I am trying to get into the Second Degree Individual Program because I missed the deadline for the June, 2009 program.

I have my BA in Business Administration and I had started my Masters in MBA and decided to change curriculum to go into Nursing. I started out as a Medical Assistant attending Mandl Allied Health College, where I took the MA Certification and the Phlebotomy Certification exam to become registered as a Medical Assistant and a Phlebotomy Technician.

I am wondering about this school, and for those of you who have already started and have not yet mentioned whether or not the first semester is going to be hard, please give a little insight on what is to be expected in my very first semester. What are the obsticles to be face getting my financial aid taken care of and getting my books and vouchers. Do you wear uniforms to school or regular clothes? Do we have to purchase your equipment now or later?

Hi,

Maybe you can respond to my post since you are already attending this school.
