College Networking- Switch from BSN to ADN to Excelsior

Published

Hi All.

I am currently enrolled in Indiana State's LPN to RN Bachelor's program, and I decided to use the College Network.

However, I am considering switching to Excelsior's ADN program in order to complete faster, and to get working as an RN sooner.

Does anyone know if I can do this? What is the process for doing this?

Thanks!

You are the one who started the thread. Come back and tell us when The College Network grants you a degree in nursing.

She's not saying TCN is going to give her a degree ... she's wondering about switching her study guides and program with TCN, with whom she signed a contract. It's a valid question. There's no point in asking why she signed a contract with them -- it's done. The good thing is that she seems determined to use her study guides and finish her degree. She's just going to need different study modules from TCN if she switches schools.

And my question was valid and did not warrant an insulting reply.

Gotta love the vagaries of online (mis)communication. I'm done.

With all due respect, that is none of your business.

I can't afford to pay out of pocket to attend Excelsior, which does not accept Financial Aid or Grants. I had originally looked into signing up with them but couldn't choke the out of pocket costs.

Just another clarification but Excelsior also offers payments plans.

They do, but not in the manner that I could have afforded to pay them.

And they are stopping with the one type of payment plan after October.

hi sweettartlpn,

i went through tcn as well and used just over half of the modules. i have had good experiences with tcn regarding phone conversations. call them and ask if they can change this for you. it sounds like it could be a better route to go because while you work as a nurse you can get your bsn. i graduated with my adn from ec last august and once i start working i will pursue my bsn online with another university.

keep us posted, i would like to know that tcn would at least help you get the degree you want with either ec or indiana so they should change it for you.

also, do you have to pay for each tests with ec? that is were it got me when i signed up with tcn. had no idea that i would have to fork up $235-265 each test i took as well as $65.00 for each practic tests (which helped alot!).

good luck:)

They will let me switch. :) I just got off the phone with them.

I have to pay a small fee and re-sign an agreement, and then I will be switched over. Thank goodness!

One thing that I am not certain on, is whether this will cover the cost of the enrollment fee, classes, etc. with Excelsior, or if I am just paying for my pre-reqs that need to be done. They made it sound like everything was included in TCN's contract price, and I would only have to pay out of pocket if I failed.

Can someone confirm or deny this?

BTW- I did get my test fees included in with my contract price. Saved my life, let me tell ya!

:yeah:alright! glad they switched ya.

i believe you will not have to pay for classes because ec is a long distance learning program so you study on your own and pace with no online courses. the only courses i can think of that you would pay for are online conferences designed to help you but are not required. i do not know if indiana was like that. are your pre-reqs going to be clep tests?

it would be great if your cpne and enrollment fees/ssaf would be included in your contract...big money to fork up out of pocket! call them back and ask!!!!

fyi: i can't stress enough how important it is to pay & take those practice tests. there are 2. the first one (a) i had taken prior to studying to see where my weakness areas are. then after studying for month go back and take the second one (b) and see how well i obtained the info...it really helped.

good luck to you!!!!

When I signed with College Network they included the books and the exam fees. It didn't include enrollment fee Fcca or Cpne cost. Another friend only had the books in her contract. So I guess it's going to depends on how your contract is written on what it will pay for out of pocket.
