 ARE YOU SERIOUS????

Met with a Rep. from The College Network and he was rude and "evil".....smh

why me? I know 2 people who are going through TCN and they were shocked of the info I told them and they told me he was a LIAR and the info was not correct!

has anyone else had a run in with a rep from TCN that was a JERK:down:

In that case it really isn't any different that a for profit college.

The difference is they are not a college; they sell books.

Yes, it is VERY different. If you want to compare College Network to other publishing companies that supply overpriced unnecessary study materials... IStudySmart, Rue, etc... then, yes... it would not be different.

However... since College Network IS NOT A COLLEGE... comparing it to a college is like comparing apples and oranges. Also, aren't most colleges 'for profit'?

Just my $00.02 worth...

As Lady in Scrubs said, it's different in that it isn't a college. It's a study guide sales scheme. There are plenty of private, "for profit" colleges that are legitimate schools where you can get a good education. There are also plenty that are "diploma mills." As always, caveat emptor stands. Before making a decision that will dictate your future, it is on you to do the research to ensure you are doing the right thing.

Do your research about thoses companies...contracts and so on.....read read read and don't sign....STATE BOARDS ARE LOOKING AT THOSE THIRD PARTY BOOK COMPANIES...AND EVEN WITH THOSES ON LINE RN PROGRAMS MANY ARE FADING....BECAUSE IT'S HARD FOR THOSE PLACES TO GET CLINICAL SITES DO to the hours that different states want and other colleges and univ. have favor over many sites....AND many of thoses online rn programs aren't excepted...so do your home work....I'M NOT TALKING ABOUT BSN, MSN ....and so on programs those are the way to go onlinw with thoses...but not with a third party...I could tell you about some good univ/college programs and thoses...to run away from....ITS A MONEY THING...AND HOW DO YOU WANT TO SPEND YOURS. Many people that work at those companies...are nothing but reps....ALWAYS CALL YOUR BOARD...they can give you so much info about what they except and why they don't except. Many of the online RN programs didn't provide enough clincial/theory hours for certain states...thats why thoses states aren't dealing with them anymore. Even if you were an lpn before....and the pass rates were also looked at.

 OMG...I just signed up with TCN yesterday. Most of the schools/ programs around here have waiting lists or classes taken there won't transfer because they're clock hours...now I'm really nervous.

Do you have the 3 day grace period to get out of the contract? If so... you might want to reconsider...

If you do a search on this site for College Network, you will find a lot of posts, mostly negative. The thing that TCN does not tell you... they only supply the study materials, they have nothing to do with Excelsior College, who is the accredited college that issues the degree. The other thing they don't tell you... the cost of the ADN is essentially DOUBLED by going through TCN. Everything you need to study for Excelsior's exams is on their website. (Of course, you will have to buy some books, but NOT at double the cost!)

Now, I personally know a few people that went through TCN... some are finished, some are still in progress. Every one of them has said they are VERY expensive. I'm not going to comment on their study modules... since I actually found some pretty cheap on Ebay and bought them.... I will be supplementing those with other materials.

Good luck to you... whatever path you choose!

cancel your contract!!!!!before your 3 days are up............

According to TCN I have A&P, micro and possibly biology left before I can start @ EC. He did let me know TCN and EC were separate, though. I guess I'm not understanding what the alternate route is, meaning going around TCN and straight to EC. lol Oh my goodness what I have I gotten myself into???

Ok... relax... take a deep breath... go the Excelsior website and read everything you can to understand the process.

You can still do your prereqs before, during, or after you take the exams through Excelsior... my opinion is that it is probably easier to do them first, or at least most of them. You can't graduate until everything is completed.

You can apply, which costs $75... to do this, you will need to send OFFICIAL transcripts. Excelsior will review the application and transcripts, and let you know what else you need. As a matter of fact, I mailed my application off today! I think they will tell me that I still need Eng101, Micro, and Dev Psych... there are options out there for those, too. This site is a wealth of information, from people who have completed their ADN through Excelsior, and many that are still working on it.

There are a couple of exams you can take before you enroll in Excelsior... once you enroll, time is of the essence, because you will pay an annual fee of $895. So... there is another reason to get the prereqs done first.

Look at your TCN contract... there should be a 3 day cancellation clause. If you can research this site and Excelsior's site quickly, then you can decide if it is worth the extra $$$ for you. A LOT of extra $$$$....!!!!

You need read over your contract and cancel it. That place is no more then like a book store....in a nut shell. They only sell over priced books. You have to pay for all the classes....and pay to take the test..then pay to enroll in EC...so its like paying twice. And some states don't even take online RN programs mines stop doing that in 09....my state doesn't even except EC RN program. Alot is changing and there are so many companies out take money along with schools. There aren't any perfect schools but you can go to one that you know will give you what you need to be successful...and pass your boards and finish in a decent time frame. So check with your board re: to online programs. But do whats best for you. I'm only trying to save you money and time. Because many of the people are just reps....and try to appear like they want to help you. They just sell books...and many of the books don't match up when its time to take the test at the testing sites. Look at the better business website or go to consumer complaints. ITS MORE LIKE A TEXT BOOK COMPANY.

Also if you want to get out of your contract within the three days....and they give you the what i call the horse and pony show about why you need not to do....contact legal aide.....fax a simple letter to terminate the contract to the book company....certified letter...file a complaint with BBB. I hope this is help keep us posted on what you decide to do. Its your education you take control of it....and your money how do you want to spend it.

Within 24 hours, you definitely should have have time to cancel your contract. You don't need TCN to do this.

There is literally no benefit to you to continue with this scheme to separate you from your money.

Here's some reviews you needed to see 24 hours ago:

Demand your money back and termination of the contract. I understand the situation, impacted RN programs and long wait lists and lotteries. This isn't a solution to your problem though. You won't have a different outcome from anyone else who has had this experience with TCN.
