College of the mainland (COM) Fall 2016

Published

Hello everyone, I'm just making a thread for everyone that is applying for this upcoming semester. I applied last for the spring but didn't get in d/t a clerical error so make sure if you guys are applying to double and triple check they have all of your information in the system. Good luck to all of you!!!

It scares me to know that happened to you all. I would be beyond upset if that happened to me. Hopefully this time around they learned from their mistakes.

Well the thing is they haven't really ever owned up to the mistake they made on my application. They told me it was because I didn't have micro. But you are allowed a course in progress. I just blamed them personally because If I weren't even eligible then Mr Moody would have seen that and I wouldn't have been able to apply.

I'm going to go up there personally sometime next week, to make sure they received everything I've submitted.

I have a total of 420 total right now hope that's enough! it is unfortunate all the clerical issues I have heard..BUT I know several people who have gone to COM and they have told me that they feel their education is better than that of friends that went to other schools! Good luck everyone!! :)

You should be fine with a 420. I mean, I don't do the admissions but from what I've seen last semester that's a pretty competitive score.

Crossing fingers! Thanks for the encouragement!

I was told they're using a new weighted score this semester. Add 300 (I think) points to your score and you get your new ranking score.

Did that person tell you what the 300 points represent? I thought it was 4.0 max for the gpa, 390 max for the TSI, 60 max points for the science courses, and 20 max education points.

Sorry, went to look at my notes. You multiply your GPA by 100. So instead of a 3.5 you'd have a 350. Everything else is the same. Mr. M explained why and it made sense when he said it, but I would butcher it if I tried to explain it.

Honestly their points system is so strange. Instead of making each number bigger, why not just make it smaller. Like in the single or double digits. Making things so complicated will surely lead to more mistakes.

Yeah they did tell me that too..something about giving people with a higher gpa but lower points on other things an extra chance at getting more points

Wow! So I guess that would put me at a 804 : )
