Nursing Students School Programs

Hello, just wanted to create a thread for everyone applying to COM's Fall 2018 ADN program. I stop by the school today and met with a Nursing Advisor, we went over the requirements needed (more like a one on one orientation). The link to apply to the program just showed up on my WebAdvisor. Good luck everyone

UPDATE: I spoke to the Nursing Adviser about the points system they use to determine who gets into the program, she stated that they DO NOT need or require any kind of testing anymore not even TSI in Reading that was needed/used in previous semesters. They would select those who qualify based on the GPA of the pre-requisite classes and how many points earned based the grades of the pre-requisite science class.

Thanks for creating this thread! I'm also applying for the ADN Fall 2018 semester and will be seeing the Nursing Advisor soon. I too was going to ask the advisor about their points system. Thanks for sharing!

You are welcome. Goodluck girl

I submitted my application today. It is very brief and quick.

Looking at previous boards they heavily emphasized TSI scores for your application, it made me a little nervous.

Nursing Department also confirmed that TSI testing is not needed/isn't considered any longer for the ADN application.

I submitted my application today with no TSI testing.

After trying to make contact for over two weeks, I was finally able to set up an appointment to meet with the nursing dept advisor today. I also read previous forums emphasizing on TSI scores as well. You mentioned that they only base it on gpa grades of the prerequisites? Do you know if they consider anything else for additional points such as Hesi scores, etc? Just curious as to where I'll stand.

Anyone have experience or know anyone who has attended or currently attending COM's Nursing programs? I would like to know how they feel about it or what it's like in comparison to other schools. The other forums doesn't really say.

This is the first year they switched over to the purely electronic system. I was told only pre req scores and science scores are considered.

I had the same questions about HESI and TEAS test scores. I was told they will not be considered by 3 people.

Hey @hran yes! you are right. I'm not sure how to feel. I'm nervous about getting accepted. I would really love to start Nursing School by Fall. My dreams and aspirations are bigger than me. :)

I am nervous as well, especially with this being the first semester using this system! Does anyone know how many applicants/acceptances there were for the Spring 2018 class?

Not sure how many applicants but I believe COM accepts 60-63.

I'm so excited someone created a thread!!! I've been reading past threads comparing my score (no tsi) to those in previous semesters in the low 800 and praying that my advisor didn't make a mistake when he said I didn't need it! Reading the past threads are so suspenseful. I've been comparing the initial post date to the first acceptance/denial post trying to gauge how long the wait will be. I'm super nervous. Do any of you have alternate plans if not accepted? I try to plan what I would do if I didn't get it so it wouldn't feel like the end of the world lol.
