College of the Canyons (COC) ADN Fall 2021

Published

Hello everyone!
I have not seen a forum for COC's Fall 2021 ADN program, so I decided to make one for all applicants to ask questions, share stats, and talk about anything relating to the application process.

Multi-criteria screening points: https://www.canyons.edu/_resources/documents/academics/nursing/MULTICRITERIASCREENING101916.pdf

I believe I calculated 76 points.. I don't feel like this is as competitive, but I believe it is worth a shot.

Good luck to everyone applying!

Hello! Yes, for CSULA they said they rejected me because of my TEAS score. Apparently they look at each individual score/subject and said they wanted a minimum of 80% , which I find sus because when they first sent me the reason why I was rejected they told me my prereqs were incomplete.

These are my stats:

GPA: 4.0 (Cumulative + pre-reqs)

TEAS: 84%

Bilingual

I do not have work experience / not much volunteer experience

I was rejected by most of the CSUs I applied to (I'm thinking maybe because of my TEAS score), although I am still waiting for CSUB and UCI + CCs. I'm really hoping I get into a program, doesn't really matter where LOL ?  I'm getting discouraged because I do not want to take a gap year but I hope it all works out for all of us!! This is my first time applying to COC's program!

Oh my gosh! At least 80 in each category? That’s so competitive! I wonder if that means 80 percentile in each category at least... b/c I had higher 80s to 90s percentile wise. In previous years, people with 3.9 GPAs & 84+ TEAS got in. I feel like a factor could be the selection pool widened this year b/c the applicants consisted of freshmens, sophomores, & transfers. It used to be only sophomores current students & transfers. Did you write an appeal?

Honestly, with your stats, you’ll make it somewhere. Your stats are very good for CSUB! Best of luck ❤️ It’s also my first time applying to nursing programs in general. I applied to a few CSUs, CC bridge programs, & USF ? Wishing for the best!

Also, I was reading the scholastic eligibility thing on COC's nursing website and it says "students must have a minimum required score of 70 to be eligible for admission"... Does that pertain to the score from the multi-criteria screening points?? Or is that a different one?

I think so... I believe most people accepted usually have 70+ points. Usually, those accepted have higher 70s to 80+ points.

Yes! That's what they said the cutoff was... I messed up on the science part and got a 78-79% so I think they factored that in. I did send an appeal and yeah they said my application remains denied LOL..! I am trying not to think too much about it but hopefully I get accepted somewhere! UC Irvine does not require TEAS score but they require tedious prereqs which I focused on ?  and forgot about the TEAS haha! I am hoping to get into CSUB but the waiting game is killing me because apparently they won't send acceptances out until the Summer ?  Wishing you all the best too! Can't wait for all of this to be over! Good luck!!

Oh my! When did they reply to you? & how long did it take? Did you email multiple times to get their attention? They haven’t replied to me yet & I sent my appeal on the 17th when I got my unfortunate letter.

I think they replied to me just this weekend -- I think the 27th, Saturday. I also sent my appeal on the 17th so it took them around 10 days to reply. Hope it all goes well!

I wonder why it's taking a while for them to reply to my appeal ?. It makes me so nervous. I think I'll check up with them when I get accepted into a program first, so I can have a peace of mind even if they deny my appeal. Thank you for replying to me! I hope you get into UCI ?

Maybe they are really looking into yours and hopefully deciding on accepting! You are always welcome!! and thank you so so so much, that means a lot ?  Also do you know if the invitation to take the TEAS / send scores from COC are being sent exactly on the 31st or even before or after that? I sent an email and was told to expect them by the 31st.

Nope ? I think it's b/c it's Cesar Chavez Day. Also, Boba, I got a reply to my appeal. Oof, remained denied. It's fine I guess.. I've committed to another BSN program that is only 2.5 years.
