Unionizing is always a risk to those brave enough to try to organize. That's any job, anywhere. Not just nursing.

It's a dangerous job to take on, which is RIDICULOUS! You shouldn't be fired for this, but most employers it is an unspoken policy that this is a strict no-no.

I think it's ridiculous that you have to fight for safe working conditions. It should be a given, particularly when you literally have people's lives at stake. Unfortunately, that doesn't generate as much profit.
