COB rollcall

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hey, I am feeling giddy today. Sooooo....will ask for COB rollcall and year graduated from *first* nursing school (whether that be LPN/LVN or RN or even throw in the CNA date)...

I graduated in 1990 with my LPN. I was a CNA for at least 6 months prior to that. :)

Specializes in Early Intervention, Nsg. Education.

LPN in 1990 (diploma, or "Hospital School."). RN in 1992 (ADN through a local community college.) I worked as a NA for several months during LPN school, which was rough since we spent so much time at the hospital. From what I've read, it seems like the Diploma/Hospital-affiliated PN/RN schools were notorious for super amped-up clinical experience. I probably did twice as many hours in the 1 year PN program compared to the 2year ADN program.

Specializes in Dialysis.

I feel really old now!

BSN 1982, Nursing Tech 1979

Specializes in psych, addictions, hospice, education.

1992 - BSN; 2001 - MSN

Specializes in Cardiac and OR.
Little BIT (bat in training) here

CNA 1985 (trained by RNs who became RNs in the early 1940s..now those were some old school ladies and talk about CRUSTY!!)

EMT 2001

LPN 2008

RN 2013 (ASN)

RN to BSN this coming May (finally!)

I like that! Can I be a BIT too? Of course some people who know me would add 'CH' to the end...

Specializes in Oncology; medical specialty website.

There's a term for bats in training: "batlings."

Hahahahhahaaa!

Those are the best kind!

Please don't ever call yourself "just an RN". You've been doing this for 30 years. You are a "well seasoned RN".

Awww...thank you Jensmom!

I know, but I can't help feeling inferior to all of those who have a BSN. I just don't have it in me to do it: physically, financially, mentally.

I wish I'd have done it when I was right out of school, before finances and health considerations got in the way.

((((OCNRN63)))))))

It wouldn't have changed how you were as an RN. It wouldn't have given you more $$$ even!

Specializes in Cardiac and OR.

My mom went through a hospital diploma program 46 years ago, and in terms of practical knowledge and skills, she can "nurse" the socks off of a lot of ASNs and BSNs I see today.
