Coaches drive me crazy!

I am at a middle school and almost daily when I am trying to get out the door, some kid from after school athletics comes in for some minor boo boo. Same before school, they are waiting for me when I walk in the mornings.

I have told them numerous times what my hours are. One day they are going to send someone who has a more serious injury to an empty clinic. They don't even call on the radio or anything to see if I am even in the building. They just assume that I am.

I have given them bags full of first aid supplies and they never use them. I am just tired of it. After holding my bladder and not getting a break or a duty free lunch, by the afternoon- I am exhausted, hypoglycemic, and just plain ready to go.

Another trick I use is email, anytime I email a coach for something (roster, info etc) I cc the AD

I do it, that way I know it gets done, correctly. They will not even look at the form, and some physicals will come in with a current print date but the ACTUAL date of the exam was 2 years ago.....

Is the form/note coming from the doc's office? I get signed sports clearance notes from doctors with current date, but the actual exam was over a year ago, but my take on it is if the doctor issued the okay despite not seeing the student in the last year ... fine by me, I personally wouldn't if I were him or her but I'm "just the school nurse." Is that wrong?

My school/athletics dept is sooooooo lax about this policy, and despite knowing better, I just haven't had the time or energy to forcefully pursue it. It's one of my top priorities for next year though, and I know people are going to be upset that the policy will actually be enforced, but I'm tired of worrying about who's out there playing when they shouldn't be! I feel like if anything ever came up, it would all come down on me because I didn't collect a physical, even though every sports season my AD gets an email about who is still missing theirs. :(

I have a kid who has ITP and a care plan of what sports he can play, what his Plts. should be, etc. It is because of him I have been vigilant. I DO feel it would come down on me if I was lax. But my AD is not lax, either, which is good. They are just ...always hanging about in my doorway with the rosters...lol.

Yes but our state regs say that the exam has to happen after the end of MS. We will accept a note from the MD that sates they are cleared until next scheduled exam, with the understanding that it will be done shortly....but clearly NOT prior to 366 days since the last one...wouldn't want to the get the insurance people all worked up!!!
