CNA's need recognition...

Nurses General Nursing

Published

hello all. some of the nurses and myself were discussing how we could thank our cna's for all the hard work they do. i must add, our cna's are awesome!

i work at one of the mercy hospitals on the med-surg floor. we tried to brainstorm some ideas such as a gift, a meal, you know, the basic things. so, this morning, i sat down and started writing a poem. once i finished it, i contacted the publisher for our hospital newspaper and she had me e-mail it to her. it will be published this week. here it is, give me some feed back if you will:

to mercy's nursing assistants:

you have no idea--

how you touch the lives of others

with all that you do--

for our sisters and our brothers

and our mothers and our fathers--

of our families and our friends

you say it's just your job--

but that really makes no sense

it's all the extra things that you do--

when you think they're all unseen

like when you go beyond your line-of-duty--

it's those things that i mean

so i'm writing you today--

to let you know just how we feel

not just me, but from all the nurses--

as their feelings i promised to reveal

it's hard to put it all in words--

i really don't know where to start

so this poem i have to offer--

as god gives you a place in his heart

we really couldn't do our jobs without you--

and i'm speaking on everyone's behalf

god bless you all--you are appreciated--

from the entire nursing staff

thank you!

I think it's awesome. The CNAs will definately appreciated that. I know I would. Gr8 poem!

even though i'm not poetic, it bears repeating that YES, cna's definitely deserve recognition and their laborious duties should be acknowledged so much more than they are...

It rocks! I'm not much for poetry either but I would've loved this!

Agree. That's is a great way to try to put into words your appreciation.

I agree, I always feel lucky when I have great CNA. I alway make sure I thank them and let them know how much I appreciate their hard work.

from the bottom of my hard working cna heart - thank you!
