CNA pay - Elizabethtown, Louisville, Leitchfield

U.S.A. Kentucky

I'm starting CNA classes tomorrow, partly b/c it's a required prereq. for all the community college nursing programs, and also b/c I need a job that can be flexible with my school schedule.

I live closest to Leitchfield, E-town is also an easy drive. Louisville is over an hour's drive, but I'll do it if I have to (i.e - has much higher pay or perks such as tuition reimbursement).

Can anybody give me an idea of what starting pay is around these parts? Any recommendations on where to apply, good/bad places to work, etc. would also be much appreciated!

Specializes in ICU/UM.

I work in Bardstown, pay is $8.something at an assisted living facility. Nursing homes are around $9-$10, hospitals in Louisville are a couple bucks more.

Thanks! That's about what I guessed pay to be. I've heard in L'ville it's possible to get $14-15/hr IF you don't want benefits AND you get lucky. An LPN in my Anatomy class was telling me that agency and/or home health pays pretty well too, but I don't think I'd get hired in that type of situation with no experience.
