CNA meetings for home care

Published

I am a staffing coordinator for a home care agency and we hold in-service meetings monthly for CNAs. We are trying to make our meetings more interesting. Any suggestions what we can do (activities to add or icebreaker S so to say) to just ease the group and help them enjoy the Meeting. (Last mtg was our first try and we had CNAs share their funniest story, afterwards we surprised them with $20 for the best story, we want to surprise them with something new planned each month) Thank u in advance for any suggestions!

At one of our staff meetings in the past we played a 2 truths. It goes like this.

As people come into the meeting hand them a sheet of paper and ask them to write 2 truths and one "non truth" about themselves. Just little things like: 1. I was born in Connecticut. 2. I was a girl scout leader 3. I like to sew. Then have each person read the 3 statements outloud and have everyone guess which is the non-truth....(in this case it was #2).

It's fun to get to know a tiny bit about each other, especially in home care where the CNA's rarely get to see each other. :)

I don't care what the purpose of the meeting. Food, food, food. That is all I have to say.

Most icebreaker ideas at meetings like that are painfully awkward and pretty much everyone hates them. That said, I do kind of like Missingyou's suggestion, and I'll add one: have everyone write down an answer to, "Name something you would do if you knew you could not fail." Have them drop the slips in a basket and then you all get to try and guess who they belong to. Maybe add a caveat not to put anything too personal, because it could get awkward fast if they do, KWIM? ;)
