Kicked out for first practical exam fail

I just enrolled in a CNA class on April 3rd. Everything was going well, I'm absorbing info well, enjoying the experience, answering correctly when called on. Never late or absent. Today we learned for the 1st time EVER the process of "downing " so of course, the gown had to be put on precisely as instructed. I struggled getting the type of knot they wanted as it was odd for me making that type of knot behind my back without seeing it for the 1st time. So I failed my very 1st practical exam I have ever taken in this class and got kicked out. I can't reenroll. I do understand all steps must be mastered for safety reasons, I just feel this was kinda harsh, I really want this career, I am not squeamish at all, I am always polite and take verbal abuse well. I don't understand why I can't have a 2nd chance at this. Is this normal?! Thanks in advance for any input/information:

This is so unbelievable I think you might be a troll.

Either there are other issues you had with the CNA program, or you paid a lot of money for a private, for profit, school that is "ripping" students off.

I recently read many reviews about a local nursing school that has been actively ripping off students for years, so I know they exist. If this is in fact one of those schools, you just will have to find a better school. Someone should have taken the time to work with you. Next time around, make certain that you practice as much as possible so that you don't feel like you didn't make your best effort.

Okay, I have wasted so much time responding to "trolls" I am getting very leary.

I can't understand any reason to kick you out for what you described. Sorry. Can you talk to a counselor or student advisor at the college?

I understand the absurdity of what i wrote, that's why I am in such shock myself. I emailed the dean of the department and was basically told they "run a tight ship" and have strict standards for aides. I know things have to be done right, but this was my 1st week and 1st exam ever. I am so sad, I've wanted to be a CNA for so long and finally got a chance thru the state funded grant I was given and now lost my funding.

I have never experienced this in my CNA course , this is strange I would ask for my money back to be honest or report it to the school if I couldn't get it back .

Thank you to all who took time to respond. I did call the dean of my school and was told "it's a fast paced program, and the run a tight ship" and they are backed by the PDE. I wasn't there long enough for my grant money I got from careerlink to go thru, but I'm now being told they can't guarantee me a spot for a grant, since I'll now be pushed back on the list.

my brother is an LPN and he said he'll help me study over the summer so when I find another CNA program I will be familiar with the material.

I'm just in awe. I'm so sorry this happened to you. I've been a CNA for four years and am currently in nursing school. I have NEVER heard of a "special knot" to tie an isolation gown. The main priority of donning an isolation gown is to secure it in a way that it protects yourself and your garments, and while doffing you must make sure you don't contaminate yourself. Usually we rip them off and roll it in on itself (dirty side in), so special knots don't matter.

Are you talking about "donning"? Donning on and off PPE, right? I'm pretty surprised you got kicked out of the entire program for something so simple. Is there more to the story? The class should be more of a teaching/learning environment. Regardless, good luck and maybe you can reapply.
