Cna job... I have some questions

How much lifting would one do and how much does an average patient weigh?? Will I go through this with training and will they not hire me if I can't lift well?? Very nervous since I'm a little weak and I really want this job. Will I need to lift 100lbs?? Please give some advice.

RNs have to lift 50 pounds. The average weight of a patient depends . . . are you looking for a job in newborn nursery? Pediatrics? Or the bariatric unit?

I cannot imagine that a CNA would have to be able to lift LESS weight than the RN requirement.

It varies a LOT based on where you're working and the type of unit you're working on. But even on a unit with tiny adults (typically), you may have a 600 pounder come through on occasion. As a CNA, you're typically doing more labor intensive tasks than a nurse would although neither have it easy.

I lift just as much as the nurses on my floor do, and we have to be able to lift 50lbs. Helps to be able to lift more but it's very rare, and usually if you have to support more than that on your own, you call someone to help you.
