Bringing my own work supplies

Hello I'm currently a cna right now. I'm just curious has anyone evee bought their own soap to bring in for when you wash people? Like baby shampoo or something else mild that cleans and smells better!!?? I want to but dnot want to get in trouble or something

Yes, I've seen many CNA's bring in their own shampoo and/or body wash for the patients & haven't gotten introuble. Although, I don't see why you'd wan to bring and use your own shampoo or body wash..

I've done it before, but you need to check with your facility's policies first. If the facility allows it, check the residents medical charts to look for allergies, etc... then ask the family for permission (unless the resident cam give consent - I specialized in dementia cases, so it was always up to the family)

In the nursing home I use to but its prohibited because of the allergies of the patients and might break some of them out. I love to make them smell good.

I would not do it. I have seen other CNA's, after a resident with dementia gets upset over something, say things like

"after all the times I've brought in something for him/her, this is how I get treated!!!".

Don't do it. You're trying to help by doing something nice, but in the end it will backfire on you one way or another.

I've seen many CNA's do this because they like to give good care to the residents. Of course you need to get the ok of the facility, and family. Can also see how it can backfire on the individual. Have also seen certain CNA's steal the personal property of a resident to use on another resident. Obviously, that is not a nice thing to do.
