Published

Hi everyone!!!! I'm so excited!!!! Today was our last day of CNA class and clinicals are next week! ☺️ then state exam the week after. I have two pairs of scrubs ordered, a stethoscope/sphygmomanometer set, my watch and I'm getting a good pair of shoes in a couple days. I applied for a position at the local nursing home but am still waiting for the background check to go through and also applied for a position at the local assisted living facility. I'm just so excited for life. That's all I wanted to share ? thanks for listening!!!

WooHoo, mindofmidwifery!!!! Good going and congratulations. Don't be surprised if your first week... two weeks... okay, maybe month, is tough but hang in there. You have the heart to be an awesome caregiver and the world needs awesome caregivers.

Yes, I am the type to post every little thing that goes on haha. You post too when your clinicals come! What scrubs and shoes did you get?

Good luck to you! This is the start of your Nursing career! Keep shooting for the stars!

Your positive attitude and bright outlook are refreshing! I remember how much I enjoyed the CNA class I took back in 2000; it was the first step on my journey to becoming an RN. Best wishes!

Always take the 20 secs to raise the bed before giving care. Your back is strong now....lets keep it that way!

Here are my top 5 tips, if you please.

10 pens, minimum. (I'm kidding, 5 should be fine)

Your arm makes a great notepad in a pinch, and hand sanitizer will take the ink off.

always get your vitals as soon as you get to work

make sure you have everything you need before you go into a room

whenever possible, multi task. Get patients dressed/un dressed while they're on the toilet, etc.

Yes your arms or hands make a great spot to jot down vital signs. I find an alcohol pad works great to take it off. Also, alcohol pads and tape are great to keep in your pocket.

I got the Giving Tree white scrubs, they have a bit of a stretch in them and are flattering (as much as scrubs can be, haha). Also, the shoes are tricky, I first picked up some Sanrita Koi pattent leather shoes, but after trying to break them in at home, they just didn't feel quite comfy enough. I then ordered some shoes from walmart that look like Chucks but are white leather. I have not gotten them in the mail yet, but once I do get them I'll post about how I like them. I did also pick up some Nurse Mate light compression knee high socks.

What did you end up getting?

I got the Dickies Jr fit scrubs and I read reviews about how they fit short on taller people and I thought I would be fine considering I'm barely 5'4" but yeah the shirts are cool, the pants pockets are awesome but the pants are borderline high waters. I'm glad I only ordered two pairs but I haven't ordered anymore because I have no idea what to get. I got a pair of scrub pants from the thrift store and they fit large and have only two pockets but they were only $1 so they're awesome for the price. As for shoes I was going to get nurse clogs but no point to spend $200 on shoes even if I were hired as a CNA. I ended up getting slip on Skechers, all black. They're really comfortable and inconspicuous lol. I missed my CNA exam though!!! I had to reschedule it for this Thursday and I'm hoping, but confident I'll pass. In the meantime I got hired as a feeding assistant/activity aide at the nursing home which is cool but I'm anxious to be a CNA.

How much were your scrubs? I'll probably look into those. I thought about Heart Soul but not sure if they're worth the price. Tried them on in store though and they're really flattering haha

don't forget purel:)
