I would like to know what nursing students are required to wear during clinicals, specifically students from Our Lady of Lourdes in Camden, NJ. I would also like to know the same info about Helene Fuld School in Blackwood NJ.
Can you wear scrubs or do you have to wear the white uniform (dresses for ladies... etc)? Is there a specific color of uniform? And what about shoes?
Anyone else want to share what they wear to clinicals?
Thanks

At my school we wear white polyester pants and a white tunic. You do have a choice of wearing a dress. All white shoes or sneakers, no clogs. WHITE underwear...no thongs. lol They specifically said this in orientation. We are also allowed to wear our lab coats or a white shirt under out tunics.

in my nursing school (grad Aug 2004) in Canada, we could wear colored scrubs. we HAD to wear clean white sneakers or clogs with white socks. we couldn't wear any earings, necklaces or rings (unless it was a wedding band) and our hair had to be tied up and out of our face.

Shoutout to S. Jersey! Hey! I was born at Lourdes! I'm in NC now, but miss Jersey so much...
We wear white elastic-waist pants (the lovely ones w/ the seem sewn down the middle), a white polo and a blue Wal-Mart-Looking vest that snaps in front w/ gathers in the back. Ugly Ugly Ugly. Oh, and all white shoes/sneakers. Clogs okay as long as they have a closed back.

I'm a student at Lourdes and there is a specific uniform that we have to buy. White pants with a pullstring, white botton down top. We also have to sew the schools emblem on our left sleeve... oh, and white shoes. Women can also get the dress white dress if they choose.

I'm starting nursing classes in August 2005 at Helene Fuld in Blackwood. Does anyone know if there is a uniform we need for clinicals once we're in Nursing II? Also, is there anyone out there who has recently (within the last few years) graduated from this program? If so, I would love some insight on everything. Like, can a person really still hold down a full time job and complete the nursing program during the evenings without dropping dead of exhaustion?
Thanks.

You should see what I had to wear when I went to OLL (in 1965)! At least in those days, they did the laundry!!

The uniforms are fairly straight forward - I saw white scrub pants and I dont think they have a uniform top. They have an official school lab coat - it has a patch on the sleeve, it is short and professional. It looks really sharp. They left their jackets on during the clinical time. Now that you mention this - I will delve deeper into the shirt situation.
However, some students were wearing some that barely covered the abdomen.
Some of it is instructor discretion regarding hair etc. - and that heavens common sense prevails most of the time with that. Just leave the giant earrings at home - and the tight low tee shirts (saw that too).
Best of luck! Anxiously awaiting the semester start in a few weeks!
I am assuming that these uniforms for Helene Fuld are not needed until the begining of Nursing II, right? And also assuming that the lab coats aren't outrageous in price, it seems pretty okay as far as money goes. I know my aunt is currently in Lourdes Nursing and she has to shell out $100 per uniform. She's not too happy about that!
Anyone out there currently in the Helene Fuld program or a very recent grad that can give me some insight to the teachers and what to expect?
