Hello all!
I have a simple question hopefully someone can answer. I would like to work in neonatal ICU for my required experience, does anyone know if this will count for my required experience?
Thanks in advance!

Are you saying that your desire to work in the NICU counts as experience? If so, the answer is no.

What do you mean by "required experience"? During my clinical rotations, we rotated through just about every area in the hospital. I think I spent 1 day in NICU. If you're talking about a capstone/preceptorship, then yes, I'd imagine it would count if your school has a placement available in the NICU and they assign you to it. We were allowed to choose our top 3, and they placed us based on that. Hope this helps
Sorry, I redact my post. I just realized you posted in the CRNA forum :imbar Ignore me!

The best person to ask is the person that is requiring the experience. NICU is a very advanced unit and, while it may be excellent experience, it may be too high an acquity for a first/early clinical.

Some programs will count it for your acute care experience, and some programs require adult ICU. Check out a couple of programs you are interested in. I think it is benifical to have at least some adult ICU experience, most of your patients in anesthesia will be adults.
