Anyone know of a Post-master's certificate program

  1. Anyone know of a program that offers a post-master's certificate for NP (preferably adult or acute) that is online, that counts the credits of completed CNS course work? I know that there are some differences in CNS versus NP training, but to have to repeat 20-30 credits. I don't think there is that much of a difference. I could be wrong.

In taking this new job as a "NP", I don't have to return to school since in my state a CNS is recognized no differently than an NP- but I would like to, in case title protection, legislation or medicare/insurance billing gets a little stricter. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Good luck. I'm an adult health CNS going back for a peds/family CNS but wanted a PNP at first. Ugh! I was going to have to repeat an entire post-MSN certificate - all 40 hours!

I too live in a state where CNS and NP have the same practice act. Perhaps others know of some schools that will count the hours???

I went to Valparaiso University in Indiana. That doesn't help you though, Moonshadeau, since it wasn't online. I'm just in a typing mood! There, everyone got a CNS and the NP was an add-on certificate after the CNS was completed. I wish all schools would figure out what to do and be consistent!

Thanks anyway. I agree that there should be some consistency with all of this. With the schools I have looked at the credits vary so greatly. I hate to say that it boils down to what I can get for the cheapest amount of money, since at this point it is all just for my own benefit to say that I have the certificate.
