Clayton State Fall 2011

Published

Just thought I would get a forum started as we await the decision. Everyone feel free to post your overall GPA, math and Science GPA, and TEAS scores. Also why you want to be a nurse and what specialty you would like to work in?

Overall GPA 3.38

M&S GPA 3.4

TEAS 80.7

I originally wanted to be an OB/GYN, but then I got pregnant and decided I would just become an account (math is my favorite subject). After my stay in the hospital (labor/delivery & postpartum) I decided I can still be in the hospital setting if I become a nurse. I want to be an OB/GYN nurse.:heartbeat I eventually want to become a certified nurse midwife. :D

Hey guys,

I was wondering if any of you have the same problem as I do. I got my acceptance letter (yea!) but it said I still needed a history class. I had done the SOSC 2501 class under the E4 category and my advisor told me that it would still stand for getting in. (I had seen that the core classes had changed a little and they had deleted the sosc class off the list since the last meeting with my advisor and I had asked her about it.) If that is so, why would they be saying I should be taking a history class over the summer? I was just wondering if anyone else was in the same boat. I plan on calling on Monday but I just don't want to have to take ANOTHER class over the summer and have wasted my time taking the (boring) SOSC class.

I would call them on Monday and find out

Did you do both of your history classes? I took soci too but also had 2 other history classes and govt class

I would call them

For Area E I had POLS 1101, HIST 1112, HIST 2112, AND PSYC 1101...Did you take U.S. and World History?

You know surgtech I do recall seeing that when I did apply online and did notice that soci was not on it.

I would call them and see what they say.

Congrats by the way. Do you have to take anything else during the summer ?

I took the U.S. history and since the sosc fit into my schedule in spring of 2010 I took it! I am registered to take an online statistics class over summer and plan to take interactive communications. I wanted to take an elective - but if they are going to make me take another history then I won't be able to take that elective. :( I will call... I hate thinking that my only B (sosc) at Clayton State won't even be used towards getting me in. Like I have always said... these colleges are in it for the money. I don't think its fair to give us a list and then change it. How are we supposed to plan? I'm glad nothing else changed on the list...

Just call before you get upset. Cultural diversity and women's health online is good

Please help! I am at a crossroad. Lisamac offered some very thoughtful advice about my problem; however, I would like to hear from anybody else who will take the time to respond. My situation: I HAVE to take micro and patho this summer. I would like to take interactive communication as well. Do I want to deal with the taking IC this summer with patho and micro or should I deal with IC with the three nursing classes and associated labs this fall?...without having any knowledge of the classes, if APPEARS that I would rather deal with IC with my summer load as opposed to my fall load....what do you guys think....I don't work...I would be satisfied with 2 A's and 2 B's. O yeah, it also scares me a little that I could jeopardize my spot in the program by taking a load that causes me to fail one of these classes this summer. I do much better with analysis as opposed to memorization. Is micro and patho more analysis or memorization?...THANKS A BUNCH FOR RESPONDING!!!!

Ok, take all 3 this summer. It would be wise because you will need to focus on your nursing courses in the fall. Even if u make C's in the summer courses, u wont get penalized for becuasr youre already in the program! You will do fine with patho.but micro is ALOT in the summer. You will work hard this summer but make sure u have some fun before the program starts. Goodluck hope this helps

I told you my opinion...I won't do it. Because you are more likely to make C's then the A or B that you want. That will be four classes in the summer! I consider Micro more analysis, but I'm taking it at GPC...and I'm taking patho this summer. But from what I'm understanding Patho is more memorization like A&P 1&2 was. Lisamac is the only one that has already taking all three classes and all at Clayton. So I would go with here opinion. If your science and math gpa get below 2.50 GPA by you making a C in Patho and Micro/lab....you will not be able to start in the fall. If you make a D....you will have to take it over..so I wouldn't do it. Especially not expecting an A or B!

OAN: Does anyone know when the orientation packet will be available to print?

I really appreciate the comments....thanks guys
