Clark College fall 2019

Published

Hello everyone, I got accepted into the Nursing program at Clark College, and so I thought I should start a new topic here. My total score was 37 pts, gpa 3.9, and I'm not clark student nor veteran. Does anyone applied for fall 2019 ?

Hello!

Congratulations getting in!!! I hope to be where you are in a couple of months. I have applied to the winter term and I have 37 points. My GPA is a 4.0 and I am also not a clark student or veteran. Love to hear that you are similar to me and got in! ? I hope more people post in this thread. Would love to hear how your first term went.

How long did it take for letters to be mailed? I heard 8-10 weeks after the application deadline, is that right?

Anyways, so happy for you. I bet you are ecstatic!!!

Well, at first, I expected to receive the acceptance letter by the second week of June. But surprisingly, I received the mail May 25; I thought it was just a general letter stating I completed all the required requirements. When I opened the white envelope, the first thing I saw, the big word of Congratulations after that I started to scream. The next day I call the school to accept the placement for fall 2019 and pay the non- refundable fee of $200.

Hope to talk to you soon again and good luck to all.

Yeah, that's what I expected to get first - the requirement evaluation. Good to know! Thank you for all this information. Really hoping I get in. Would love to start as soon as possible instead of taking another term off.

I have one last important question for you... do you know what your schedule is going to look like at all? like how many days you'll be on the campus/hours of classes, clinical days/hours, etc. I could really use this information because if I get in I might move to Vancouver if it is too much driving at bad times.

Thanks! ?

I have to wait for the nursing orientation before I can even register for the classes. It has two parts, first, the nursing requirements compliance and the second part is the orientation to discuss clinical sites and classes. But base on what I've heard with my friends who are in the nursing program at Clark, most of the clinical days will be at Vancouver and Portland area and normal hours of classes will be from M-F, 8-2pm.

what were your grades in all your classes? I'm hoping to apply to Clark in April 2020

I had all A's! I think there is a little room for a B or two though. All the information is on their website. I think if you plan to have 35 or more points you should be good/guaranteed a spot. Good luck to you.

Hey I just wanted to check in on you guys to see how Nursing school is going? I plan on applying in June to Clark's program and am intimidated by everything I have heard about the program.

Hope you all are in good health.

I also applied at Clark College but I choose Centralia because it is more convenient for me. In every nursing school there always be a challenging part of it but if you study well you’ll be fine. I am happy, I picked Centralia over Clark and also we do have amazing teachers and only 24 Students each year.

Hello MommaHOSS,

I just finished my first term, it went very well. The teachers are extremely nice and helpful. I am a little worried about future terms because I have heard the same, but I think if you are dedicated you'll be fine. It's a lot of work and you should plan to study your butt off. This isn't a walk in the park, you are going to be a nurse. On the plus side of things, all of my teachers have been awesome! Literally, my favorite teachers out of my whole college experience thus far. You also make really good friends and aren't going through the program alone, which helps tremendously. You guys can all complain together. ? If you have any other questions, let me know!

I am a 6th quarter Clark Nursing student, I will graduate in June! I would be happy to answer any questions any of you may have about the program.

Every quarter has its challenges, you have to put in the time to study and you will have to become efficient at writing care plans, databases, and pathomaps. If you go to class, read the assigned reading, follow the rubrics and example papers for written work you will do fine.

The first year consists of theory classes, skills lab, and clinicals. Plan to be in class a few hours each day, hours vary based on your assigned clinical group, clinical rotations are usually one day a week starting in a SNF, then moving to med surg third quarter. The second year is theory classes one day per week and clinicals two days per week. Until you get to 6th quarter where it’s completely different with theory courses, NCLEX review, clinical preceptorship, volunteer hours, and a few simulation labs.

It’s been a great learning experience, use your clinicals to practice patient care as much as possible and ask tons of questions to your preceptor RN’s, that is your best opportunity to learn real life nursing. You will make some amazing friends in your cohort, work together and support each other because you will need that support to be successful! Good luck and feel free to ask me anything!
