City Tech Spring 2021

Published

Hey all aspiring future RN's ! I'm transferring to City tech in fall 2020. Then I plan on applying to City Tech Spring 2021 RN program. I just need to take one more class MAT 1190. Does anyone else plan on applying? Current students in the RN program do you have any advice?

Hey guys just giving my 2 cents here but if your GPA is a 3.5 and you passed the TEAS regardless of your score, I’d say you have about a 99% chance of acceptance.

are you in the program currently?

Specializes in Clinical Medical Assistant.

LOL you have a really good chance with a 3.4 as well. Yes people did get accepted with a 3.4 so it’s very possible but that’s closer to the cutoff which is why I didn’t mention it but anything above a 3.5 is almost a guaranteed entrance as long as you pass the TEAS.

Thank you ??? Understood

I am a transfer student and this is my first semester at City Tech. I already took A&P 1 and 2 and psychology at my previous university. Given that your GPA resets every time you transfer, do you think they will count only math and English as my GPA, which I took this semester that just passed, and see that I took everything else, or would they count everything as my GPA??

They don’t consider your overall GPA only your prerequisite GPA which is a&p1, math, psychology, and English. You have the option to swap grades though and you could choose which math you want to be counted. Assuming you applied already, you should’ve put your highest grade and swapped the highest grade.

Yes

Another thing to consider guys is that the pool of applicants varies per semester. Regardless of school and degree the GPA needed to enter will always change but as what I was told, here at citytech the cutoff GPA is usually a 3.4-3.5 but it can be lower. Meaning that students with a 3.0 can also be accepted if there aren’t many applicants or if the majority of applicants don’t have a high enough GPA.

Yes

Okay yeah I applied already and understand they are only taking the 4 courses into consideration, but I’m saying that since I took 2 (technically 3 LOL) of those prerequisites at another university, would it still go towards my prerequisite GPA or would they only count the English 1101 and Math 1275co that I currently took.

Those prerequisite courses you took at the other university would still count. I also transferred and my overall GPA reset to a 4.0.

If you email them they don’t tell you what the cutoff was LOL. But during orientation professor (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) said that it was about a 3.4-3.5. I applied with a 3.6 and a 75 on the TEAS

Oh thanks! any studying tips that helped you as a first semester student? Also, did you have to order the uniforms required by the program?

Okay yeah because I received an A for psych, a B for A&P 2 and then at City Tech for the math and English I received an A. So right now at City Tech my GPA is a 4.0 but like you said if they are counting psych and A&P then my GPA is a 3.71. Also my TEAS score was a 77

Med calc is really easy but if it isn’t for you then I’d say to do a lot of dimensional analysis problems as well as knowing your conversions. For 1030, I’d study 40 hours weekly in order to retain the information at the end of the semester when you take your cumulative exam. Just read and also read the powerpoints and take notes tbh. I’m currently a second semester student but I just ordered my uniform LOL. I didn’t have clinicals last semester but this semester I most likely will, twice weekly.
