City College RN Program

U.S.A. Florida

Does anyone have information on the City College RN program? I've completed all the pre-reqs for BCC's program and plan on applying for Jan 2010 start but was thinking City College could be a good back up. I've seen some bad reviews on this site for BCC's program however, I can't seem to find much on City's program. Any info would be great:)

PrincessO, no they do not. The entrance exam for the Nursing is the HESI, you have score a 75%. They changed it from the NET test.

Are you sure? I just called yesterday and the person on the phone confirmed it was the TABE and NET

city college is not fully accredited! keiser lakeland campus apparently is the only one that is accredited,

but i would be wary of going there too because apparently melbourne campus is keiser lost their accreditation because they are not there anymore!!!

community college is the way to go!

BumblebeeRN, I read where you wrote this on another post, so I emailed the NLNAC today. I am curious as to why this is and I also want to know if each campus has to have its own accreditation. I should hear something soon...

Youre right on girl, nope they arent accredited. I called them just to verify and along with some other schools I didnt see make list like FAU, NOVA, SOUTH UNIVERSITY, FIU, KAISER and BARRY just to name a few. The rep on the other end of the line didnt have any knowledge as to why. But she did say you would be able to write the State Exam.

Makes me scratch my head and wonder...why arent all these schools accredited by the NLNAC .....go figure right

Can someone please shed some light cuz im confused. thx

Im confused as to why Nova, and FIU is not there on the website as well. They used to be there, I remember UM got their status taken off because of the low pass percentage on the nclex-rn

they are accredited by other companies.

all in all,

before you sign up for any school, do your research, and call to see if your campus is accredited, and also call the school you want to go to, and see if they accept your credits from whatever school you go to, have it mean keiser, city college whatever....

i once went to a school, kinda like city college, that they told me they worked with barry university, and after receiving my associate's in science I would be able to easily transfer to barry-- i called barry, and they had never heard of that school.

I thought each campus had to have their own accreditation, since they are so far from eachother.

I know in BC, all three campus are listed as "satelite campuses", the main campus being the north campus site, and central and south are listed as well.

but, just make sure to see someone at the university that you want to attend to after city college, or whatever other private ASN school, and see if they accept the credits from that place.

I know someone from one of those private ASN schools, that failed out, and now is going to BC, and they didn't take his A&P, or chemistry, and has to take that again, he was upset, that the class was $200/credit and they didn't take it at BC........

I e-mail NLNAC but have not heard from them at all.

but anywho---- at keiser, or city college-- you will end up with an RN next to your name.

Although an old post I wanted to comment. Most of Keiser's locations are accredited by the NLNAC. The only campus that is not accredited at this time is the Tampa campus and the Miami Lakes campus which is Keiser Career College. However, they are approved by the FLBON. Moreover, FAU, South University, FIU, and Barry University is also accredited. Since they offer a bachelor's degree they are usually accredited through a different accrediting body, usually the CCNE. I don't know why when you called whomever you called they didnt say that:confused:. You said she didn't have any knowledge as to why; Hmmmm............maybe she just didn't have any knowledge at all:uhoh3:.

NLNAC is an accreditation that I have noticed that it is given to community colleges. I remember that Nova had it when I was there, and then it expired in 2011--- but soon after it was gone.

So NLAC is more for community colleges or 2 year colleges
