City College RN Program

Published

Does anyone have information on the City College RN program? I've completed all the pre-reqs for BCC's program and plan on applying for Jan 2010 start but was thinking City College could be a good back up. I've seen some bad reviews on this site for BCC's program however, I can't seem to find much on City's program. Any info would be great:)

I went to the school for info and first they call way too much so the school is all about sales so they pressure to go to the school when I went to get info the guy was so rude and not very helpful he was unorganized and I had to wait almost 20mins for him to return to give me info...when the school just started offering nursing I went to get info and I guess because they were new and not fully accredited they were so much nicer now that they are fully accredited and more people are becomming intrested they started getting cocky but that was just my experience..my friend got in their program and she didn't have anything bad to say so I'm gonna try again with them and see what happen.

OMG, they called me ALL the time for a while, then they stopped. Its been well over a year that I even called to get info and they just started calling me again and sending me mail. In my opinion, City College isn't worth the money. Why pay so much when you only need to spend $6K for your degree? It just doesn't make sense.

Anyone starting here, or have friends starting in January?

I started at City College along with a group of about maybe 20 - 30 other students in Jan of 2007, some way or another the school found a way to just mysteriously fail students right before the end of the program. I believe only 4 of the students that started with me ended up sitting for the NCLEX. In my opinion this school is just about money. Three people are in my class now that use to go to City College, with the same complaint. One student told me she was released from the program because she got a 79.5 for her final grade when the requirement to pass is 80. THAT'S RIDICULOUS!!!!!!! anyway........I think u should stay away from the school. Once u start and dont complete - it will be very hard to find another school willing to accept your credits.

OMG!! so what school are you attending now, is it a much pleasant experience compare to CC? I think every school has it own horror stories BCC, PBCC, KAISER, FAU the only school I've heard a lil positivity about is Nova and Barry.

How are the teachers, study advise or just anything you think I should know upfront.

What is the passing grade %

Do you get to use a calculator for dosage math problems?

Thanks in advance.

Right now I go to Kaplan - which is about the same price at Kaplan, its a fairly new school - so there's a lot of problems there still working out. So far I guess it's OK (i'm not in love- lol) but as far as the teachers at City College - it really depends on who you get. There are teachers who will make sure u get a passing grade, and there are teachers who really want u to learn, and there are teachers who just dont care. It's totally up to you - if u want to really learn the material - then you have to read and learn by yourself, but honestly there were about 2 or 3 classes i took that I passed with an A, without ever opening a book. The passing grade is a B for all nursing classes and yes they do allow you to use calculators - or you can do like some of the other students and say your using your blackberry for a calculator when your really looking up the answers online.

Wow, thats scary. I hope to never have anyone from Kaplan be my nurse if I am in the hospital, thats if they even pass the NCLEX.

city college is not fully accredited! keiser lakeland campus apparently is the only one that is accredited,

but i would be wary of going there too because apparently melbourne campus is keiser lost their accreditation because they are not there anymore!!!

community college is the way to go!

Sorry, I meant City College, not Kaplan. I wouldn't want anyone from City College to be my nurse, if thats how the school is run.

Youre right on girl, nope they arent accredited. I called them just to verify and along with some other schools I didnt see make list like FAU, NOVA, SOUTH UNIVERSITY, FIU, KAISER and BARRY just to name a few. The rep on the other end of the line didnt have any knowledge as to why. But she did say you would be able to write the State Exam.

Makes me scratch my head and wonder...why arent all these schools accredited by the NLNAC .....go figure right

Can someone please shed some light cuz im confused. thx

Do they accept the NET and TABE taken at other schools?
