Hi,

For those of us who applied to CC SF, there has been a website update as follows: so mark your calendars.

FALL 2008 / SPRING 2009 LOTTERY

The fall 2008 / spring 2009 lottery will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2008, at 7:15 am in Cloud Hall, room 312. Attendance is not mandatory.

The Nursing Office will be closed on lottery day and will reopen on April 23rd. Notification letters will be mailed between April 23rd and May 2nd indicating lottery results. You may also visit this site for results after 9am April 22, 2008.

Please do not call the Nursing Office for lottery results. Office staff will not give results over the phone. Thank you.

Hi Enigma2174,

I am also on the Napa JC waitlist, but it is at least two to three years long. When I went to their orientation session they said the best bet to get into nursing school would be to move out of state! I am looking at applying to some of the master's entry programs, which are all supposed to highly impacted, just like every other nursing program in california. We'll see. Have you heard anything about people doing the LVN program and then a LVN-RN bridge? I wasn't sure if that was an easier route to go.

Masters entry programs are just as impacted :(

I too was not a "lucky winner" in the CCSF lottery. I also got my non-acceptance letter (it's too painful to use the word *shudder* denial) from the generic MSN program at SFSU. Two blows in one week is tough.

My upshot is that I was accepted to CSUEB for a 2nd bachelors program. It starts this fall. I won't have any more information for a few weeks but am excited I'll be going to school somewhere!

Last year I applied to only MSN entry programs: UCSF, SFSU & USF. Of course didn't get into UCSF, SFSU had changed a pre-req requirement that threw me off but I did get into USF. I ended up passing on their program because it would have been way too expensive (like $80,000 for 2 years). This time around I broadened my horizons and am happy that I made it in somewhere!

Best of luck to you all. The wait is sheer torture.

CrazyFrames,

For USF any advice on the best way to strenghten my application? My grades are decent but definitely not stellar, I have volunteer experience but it is from a few years ago, and I currently work in the medical field as an admin assistant. Any thoughts?
