Hi Everyone,
I'm starting this article for all of the City of Chicago nurse applicants for 2013. I'll first start with a little about why I'm choosing Truman vs Daley or Malclom x and I'll also add some pertinent information that I think would be useful for everyone.
So.....
From what' I've learned, after you complete all the pre-req's
Math
Bio
Chem
English
you can apply. In my case, I've finished all of these so I am continuing on to Bio 226 & 227 prior to applying to the program, which will help me out in the long run.
The application opens around 10/10/2012, and shortly after the TEAS exam registration will open to take on-campus at Truman.
I wonder how strict they are for those who accepted? Does anyone know if your TEAS score has a big impact on their decision?
How much is are the fees for your criminal background check, immunizations, and TEAS exam?

moved to Illinois for better response.
You moved to Illinois for a better response for what?
Chicago is in Illinois.....at least last time I visited back home and flew into midway.....Chicago was in Illinois
I moved it to the State of Illinois nursing schools so that you might get responses to your questions and your post "for all the City of Chicago nurse applicants of 2013"

Makes sense to put it in the IL board. Good move.
I'll be applying to Truman for Fall 2013 as well. I'm quite curious (and a bit anxious) to know what exactly the admissions criteria will be this year. I believe they've made changes in the past year or two? I'm doing prereqs at Truman now and I agree with others that the administration is not the most organized or clear in their communications. I'll post whatever information I get and I hope others will do the same. With our information combined, hopefully we'll have a good idea of what's up ;o)

If I am not mistaking, I believe they go by your GPA. The highest to the lowest until all seats get filled. I am applying also for the fall 2013. I have been hearing conflicting instructions on when to apply. Some of my classmates states that their advisor told them to apply when the application opens up. But when I visited my advisor, he stated to me I had to wait till the end of this semester. I am currently taking my last 2 pre-reqs.
I believe you have to have all prereqs finished before applying, because they use them in the GPA calculation. I'm guessing your advisor told you to apply at the end of the semester because there that's when the grades for your prereqs will be on your transcript.
Looking at the application information from last year, the application came out October 10th...so hopefully the application for thus year will be coming out soon :)

That make sense. Thanks. The application is suppose to open up on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012.
For sure, I know you need to have completed Bio 121, Chem 121, English 101,and Math 118 before you can submit the application. If you are taking any of theses courses right now, you would need to wait until after the fall semester to apply.
Although the application for the nursing program opened on 10/10/2012, the registration for the ATI teas test opened prior to the start date! If you have not yet taken the test, you should register asap. All of the opening registration slots for October 2012 have already been sold out!
I took my test already and things went surprisingly smooth!
OH, I see. Thanks! I'm new to the website :)
I looked at the application and you have to everything done before you apply including the background check. I registered for the ATI test Wednesday.
Mallen1507, have you received your scores and how was the test?
