Citrus College CA pre-req advise pls!

Published

Hi,

I'm a pre-nursing student currently taking my pre-reqs at Citrus College. I have a BA in Criminal justice from 5 years ago...but I ended with a pretty crappy GPA. I was wondering how low of a grade one can get on the 3 major core classes (anat, physio, micro) without Citrus looking at your "overall college coursework"? I know they take the top 24 with the best grades in those three classes...

Also, I am taking a psych and chem class that I need, along with some other soc classes, so that'll help boost my "overall college coursework GPA" right?:uhoh3: If anyone has been or is part of the Citrus program any advice on this would be appreciated.

BTW I am planning on ace-ing my core classes...don't think I have much of a choice! I'll be applying to the program for the Fall 2012 session...not the only school I'll be applying to, but def. my 1st choice. Thx for your help everyone! :redbeathe

I applied at Citrus for fall 2010 entry. My overall college coursework GPA is mediocre, 3.34. My core (Anat, Physio, Micro) GPA is 4.0. I've heard a core GPA of 4.0 will pretty much "guarantee" an individual's acceptance, but I don't want to set myself up for a big disappointment. I think it's great that you are looking ahead, but it's probably not the best mind set to be in (in regards to you wondering what's the lowest grade possible). There are simply too many factors involved. You should just do your best in each pre-req course and see what happens afterward.

I applied for fall 2010 also. I read somewhere on here that they notify in 30 days or something very close to that if you get accepted. Do you have any idea if thats true?

soontobenurse!!, I haven't heard anything from Citrus College school of nursing yet. I know they received my application & transcripts because they confirmed that through e-mail. I haven't heard anything about this 30 day notification. I'm not worried about it because I applied at 4 community colleges and haven't heard anything from any of them (regarding acceptance).

Think it would be a safe bet that one would be competing with students who have aced prerequisites no matter which program one applies to. The higher your grades, the better your chances.
