Ah, the other night was delivery #2. Nicer doc, long labor, quicker delivery from the cervical check "youre 10cm" to delivery -3min. so i had to bust butt to slap on the betadine prep, rip the bottom of the bed off, and call for the attending doc (resident in room) and nursery. but, when i pushed the call bell to ask for these things, they didnt hear me say nursery! so nursery wasn't there for like, 3 min after birth. baby was okay, thoug.

and did okay. it was with 2 residents, one who is very nice (the intern) and one very unpleasant one. it was a vbac. Pt and baby were fine. I did forget to call the attending for delivery (like we do for all of the clinic patients-residents do all t he managing, the attending comes to observe delivery only). oops.
the not so nice resident apparently expected me to have 4 hands. i didn't get too flustered, though. i was so worried something would go wrong, worried i'd call doc too soon or too late. she pushed for 10 mins and i was seeing head, but still worried it might be too soon, but i didn't want to catch a baby-
they didnt think it was too soon. it was really strange to be the only nurse in there after 11 weeks of being with someone else! even on orientation, at the end, my preceptor was in the room just watching.
so, i'm glad the fisrt one went okay. better than my coworker, who was off orientation at the same time as me-her first delivery was a family practice resident's wife.
