Merry Christmas Eve! As kids we called it Christmas Eve Day!
Joe, I use the "Christmas Club" at our Credit Union, which transfers the money on Nov. 1. I use it to pay property taxes, and then whatever is left is used for Christmas. ? I hope you can arrange to get your money out. Just FYI, our CU App has a way to transfer monies in and out of that particular account, as well as regular Savings and Checking.
Tweety, ENJOY your day off, and thank you for working holidays. Yeah, it sounds like your co-worker is setting things up for a call-off day. Too bad for the other workers and the patients. Hope there are no other call-outs.
I slept SO POORLY last night! I don't know if I even slept. I will nap soon. Not much planned for today.
Have a good day, and don't forget to track Santa with NORAD!
Sunny and 66 degrees....ho-ho-ho! Santa will be wearing a SPEEDO to deliver presents here tonight, I guess! I think it will be warm again tomorrow, though it is supposed to rain a bit later in the afternoon, with more rain on Tuesday. Can't hardly expect a White Christmas here!
SiL just called and said BiL will come over here tonight at 5:30 PM, but I don't know if I'll be riding with him or following him in my car. They're picking up BBQ from a restaurant. Not my favorite, especially if it is the same BBQ she has dropped off here before, but at least it is food I do not have to prepare.
I have to go in and wake Nannie up shortly. Bleh. I'd much rather have the uninterrupted time to go upstairs and continue getting ready to move into the other bedroom. Maybe tomorrow she will take a heavy nap after breakfast and I can do some of it then. She is happy today because I dressed her in red and white for Christmas....but she doesn't know that the red and white striped shirt and the red jersey over it are...were... both mine before I put them in her wardrobe. I'm not so fond of wearing the BRIGHT red of the jersey, nd she is very happy with it. I am wearing jeans and a mock turtleneck of faded blue. Not too Christmas-y but I'd rather be comfortable than 'gorgeous' in Christmas colors. Not being humbug, but, like, who will really care?
Tuesday (if the bank is open) I will go over to get a few checks to have for paying a few bills, until my new checkbook arrives. I can find out my new acct number and maybe get some more cash for my wallet. Will try to call and make an appt w/ SSA (though hubby's birth certificate has yet to land in our mailbox. You'd think with them being in South Carolina it shouldn't take as long to get here, but sometimes it seems that the letters you send to the closest place take longer to get here! I will say a few bad expletives at the IRS for being so _$^&*&)% about answering their phones, 'cause I don't need to get in touch with them to any more, since having found the transcripts for the last three years we paid taxes. Phooey on them! Though it won't do any good, I intend on writing them a letter about never answering their phones or returning calls. Mostly I'll do it to 'vent my spleen', y'know!
Welp, nothing going on right now, except waiting for the afternoon to advance to suppertime. If Nannie drops off in a nap, I'll sneak upstairs with a box and sweep my desk free of the clutter and papers. I may even be able to move the desk myself, after I remove the drawers, as it is not big; I will have to test-drive it to see, because I don't intend on stressing the gypsies, causing them to complain!
Th-th-th-That's All Folks!
Merry Christmas Eve! It felt good to be at the church service (and singing!) this morning. There is a Christmas Eve service... right now... and I would have gone but am afraid I might be contagious. I've been feeling bad and blaming it on my mood. Even thought I might need to increase or change my antidepressant. Felt wiped out after church. Then noticed my throat was red and sore. Went to the urgent care since they won't be open tomorrow. Strep screen was negative, though. She said there's fluid in my right ear but no sign of infection. Feeling better after taking Dayquil.
Has rained on and off today with a high of 63. Supposed to drop to 35 tonight and 28 tomorrow night. Twin A is working at the zoo's "Safari lights" tonight and tomorrow night.
I did take a nap, then we had lunch. I made a casserole after lunch, for our dinner and a few other meals. We just got done with the online jam, only one other person attended. We still enjoyed playing. ?
No Stars, I'd sure write a letter remarking on the IRS's "service", if for no other reason than to give feedback (and, as you say, it allows you to vent). Good that your evening meal is taken care of, with minimal effort on your part. Yah, I'll bet Nannie looks festive!!
Ado, hope your sore throat gets better soon. Brrrrr, that's COLD! Will Twin A be working inside or outside???
tmb, YAY, snow for Christmas!! (speaking as one who lives where it does NOT snow!)
Merry Christmas Eve!
Last time I saw snow was when I was in Japan a few years ago. It was nice, but that's enough. I honestly don't think I've had a white Christmas ever in my life, don't know what the fuss is about. LOL
Dianah, sorry about the rough night of sleep. Glad you got a nap in.
Ado, feel better.
Can't remember if I told you I lost best friend's gift. I looked high and low for a very long. time over the course of a few days and finally found it today.....in my dog's crate (which is cloth and not wired so I can't see in) chewed up but the gift certificate for groceries and Starbucks were intact. It was definitely my girl dog who has a fascination with paper and cardboard. She doesn't like chew toys though. Humph...but glad to have found them.
Now get this. I got a birthday card today. Mind you my birthday is in May. It was from best friend. He's gifting me the trip to Italy (that I was stunned to find out was over $5K) in honor of me turning 65 in 2024. Isn't that amazing???? I'm speechless.
Wow, Tweety! What a great gift! The incident with the gift in the dog crate sounds like something that could happen around here.
Twin A is most likely working outside. They actually set up bonfires so that after driving through the lights people can make s'mores by the fire. So he could be admitting cars to the drive-through lights or helping with the s'mores. Sometimes he works in the stroller shop but maybe that's just during the day when the zoo is open? He also operates the carousel on zoo days. And a few other possibilities on zoo days.
Wow Tweety, Uh, It seems you have received the Happiest of Early Birthday gifts! WOW!
So my 'gift' on this Christmas Eve is to those who have expressed concern over Nannie's will -----"In the event that my son shall not survive me, or in the event we (Nannie and my hubby) both die in a common disaster, then I give and devise all the remainder of my property of every sort, kind and description, both real and personal, belonging to me at the time of my death, to my daughter-in-law (No Stars in My Eyes) to be hers, absolutely and in fee simple."
And since I am her Substitute Executrix, she grants to her "said personal representative" (me) "continuing, absolute, discretionary power to deal with any property, real or personal, held in my estate or in trust as freely as I might in the handling of my affairs. Such powers may be exercised independently without prior or subsequent approval of any judicial authority, and no person dealing with the personal representative shall be required to inquire into the propriety of any of their actions. In furtherance of the administration of my estate, and without limiting the generality of the foregoing, I hereby grant to my said personal representative the following specific powers and authority in addition to, and not in substitutions of, powers conferred by law:" // All of that is followed by A., B., C., D., E., and F. specifications, which I will not go into here, but anyway, I thought maybe reading the above would put your minds at ease! And MINE, TOO! Additionally, near the end of the page where it was signed, it says, "Throughout this Will, the term "devise" shall be deemed to refer to distributions of real property or personal property or both, depending on the context in which such term is used."
TA-DAH! ????
What a happy Christmas Eve!
I've wrapped the presents and "Santa" has filled the stockings. I've done a lot of complaining (thank you all for listening). But, especially in light of things that have occurred at the hospital recently and in the lives of dear ones, I realize how very blessed I am to be here in my warm house, with Hubs and the boys and Gma and all 5 pets. We have the makings of a good meal in the kitchen.
There are 6 patients at the hospital and only 1 nurse scheduled tomorrow. She is an LPN without a lot of experience. The ER has 2 nurses all day and a mid-shift so hoping they can help.
Now I'm listening to the wind blow in all that cold air and to Christmas music. One cat in my lap, one dog draped over my foot, the other dog in the recliner (the furniture is for them, right?)
Merry Christmas, friends!

Stars I hope you can get those banking issues finally resolved
NJ22 that is tricky, low sodium with heart failure restrictions, too bad the doctors have yet to address it
Ado hospice would be a good idea if she qualifies
Tweety glad you have tomorrow off, hope the next shift is easier
I did feel better yesterday as the day progressed. Ran some errands in the mornings, before the stores got really crowded. Then had lunch with dad. Came home, exercised, and watched Outlander and Svengoolie. The movie was OK but didn't watch the whole thing
Have a banking issue I have to straighten out. Have Christmas account at the credit union, you put money in all year and it transfers the balance to the checking account in October. I wasn't ready to get gifts in October so I transferred the money back into the Christmas account until the bill came. The bill came yesterday but I find I can't transfer the money out. So I'll have to call the bank Tues or Wed to straighten it out
Today will be heading out early so I can do some bird watching before church, as it will rain all day tomorrow. After church will stop home then meet briefly at my dad's to exchange gifts before going to my cousin's for Christmas Eve. After that will likely head home and watch A Charlie Brown Christmas , church has a 10:30 service but unless my dad chooses to go I will probably skip that as being too late. Unfortunately the church has gotten rid of the Christmas Day service
Another unusually warm day here in the mid 50s, thankfully no rain expected today
