I have applied for an RN position at a Christian Based organization/healthcare system. Is it appropriate to talk about how God has blessed me with the opportunity to help people and how my personal goals involve living the Gospel?
Just wondering.
Thanks

I am (very happily) with a Catholic Health system.... we talk about the 'big guy' a lot -- start each meeting with a reflection & definitely believe that spirituality (not a specific brand of religion) is an important part of everyone's life. However, none of this has an effect on our hiring practices. We hire based on competency... period.
I think that there are a few behaviors that have a guaranteed karmic-whammy. Like 'using' religion to obtain something... whether it is big bucks from church attendees or getting a job. Since the interviewer doesn't really know you and can't guage your sincerity, your comments about being 'blessed' may be interpreted as a ploy to get the job. I wouldn't chance it.

I also think that the interviewer would think that you were attempting to use a gimmick. And definitely don't put anything like that on a resume.

my hospital is very touchy feely religious and I spoke openly about God in my interview, and even had to answer a religious question when I applied. It worked out ok for me, but I can see how people might misinterpret it.
