Any input would be greatly appreciated! I have been accepted to both Christ and Good Sam nursing program. Has anyone heard any pro's or con's on either of these programs? I'm just trying to figure out which school I should go with, because I only have 30 days to pay my fee to hold my spot for Christ. Thanks for your help!

ok so i need some advice. bc of the financial aid situation, i been thinking about deferring my admissions and start
august of 2010. i am still at uc and i get enough grants to cover my whole tuition. i get i can take classes at uc
next year like a and p 1, 2, 3 and gen chem 1, 2,3 and another one to become full time for my financial aid. i am
very bummed christ wont have til after the fall and sara walton told me is not even guaranteed by then. she said
the loan will only be applied for tuition so i will have to find money for books and supplies and if the money does not
come for spring i will have to do the same thing. i am just so confused right now i dont want to lose on this
opportunity i can try to take those classes and apply to uc's bsn program next may as well if i get good grades on it
but i was really excited about christ. the worst thing that can happen is that i dont get into any of them or the aid
wont be implemented at christ by the fall. i just dont think i can afford it right now. i know by the 2010 fall qtr
they will have aid for sure any advice.
Did you get the packet in the mail about financial aid? I just received it this past weekend. In the packet it acknowledged the fact that they didn't have the financial aid yet and were willing to defer the payment of fall tuition. Now, I have not read it very closely, but there are a few hoops that you will have to jump through for that to happen. I am in the same boat and do not think i can afford to pay all this upfront without any type of loans. But look into that first, then make your decisions. I am not sure if you can 'defer' your start date, but I am not positive obviously.
I have a good friend that went through UC's 4 year program and know a few others that are in it. So I am sure you will get in, don't worry about that. Just work hard and it will happen.
But you are on the right path with the questions you are asking!
this is a very hard decision to make! I do understand... But when I went to talk to Mr. Wingham last week he felt pretty confident that the whole situation will be fixed by fall. Now with that said I asked "what if it doesn't" and he said that the school will be willing to work with us. I know you said your parents will not help... Is there anyone who can help or does your employer offer any tuition reimbursement? Or can you pick up any extra work in order to pay for your books? That's what I'm doing. I'm going to babysit 2 kids this summer so that will give me the money I need. Don't give up if this is what you want! I know the money thing is hard! My husband has been laid off for close to 4 weeks! and he wanted me to wait until next year also, but I said absolutely not! I will come up with the money some way! I don't know your whole situation, but if I can help in any way please let me know!
I just remembered something! Go into your financial aid book they gave you and go to page 7 and at the bottom there is something called workforce investment act this is also known as WIA. This is something through the unemployment office and what it is basically is money given to people who need work training and they give money for school! Call your unemployment office where you live and ask about the WIA program. I called yesterday and nobody has called me back yet. I went last year to see about this, to help me pay for Beckfield in Florence, Ky. but choose against beckfield, because of how expensive it was. So I thought the program was just a Ky. thing so I was shocked to see it in their catalog. You can also apply for scholarships and private school loans if you have to. Hope this helps!
talked to fred at christ college he said i can defer my entry to august of 2010 if i pay the 350 by next week and that will save my spot so in the main next coming school year i will stay at uc and take a and p 1-3, and gob 2 and 3 and i ma apply to their program if i dont get in then i will go to christ they should def have financial aid by then i might also c about good sam.
I'm sorry... I know that you were excited about starting this year, but that's great that you can still hold your spot for next year. And doing your A&P's is a really smart move! Less to worry about when you do start nursing school! Good Luck with everything! If I can help at all let me know!
yea those credits will transfer over to christ i got accepted but i couldnt go bc of the financial aid so i will reapply again for next is a great idea to take a and p and english, psych and soc and transfer that way u can save money bc christ is very expensive and u can start off by focusing on the nursing classes good luck!!1
I went to Cincinnati state and my credits transferred. The only bad part is Cin. State are on 8 week terms you have to take more classes. Exp. A&P at Christ you need 2, so at Cin. State you'll take 3 and that will be enough for your 2 classes. It's still cheaper! All their saying at Christ is their working on the financial aid and it should be done sometime this year. They have let people who depend on financial aid defer any payments until their financial aid comes through, so I only have to pay for my books right now. Hope this helps!
