Anyone who took the exam in Sept. 06 in Cola, SC heard anything yet? I'm on pins and needles.

It took about 6 weeks to get my results...it might have been five. Start looking in the mail when it's been 4, if it was a paper/pencil test they take forever. I wish they would go computer, then you would have results instantly.

Good luck!

Anyone have a study guide or URL for a study resource? I plan to test and pass in the spring.

Thanks--and congrats all!

Bumping this to see if anyone has information regarding study guides. Most everyone at our office is taking this in Atlanta this Spring........I have only been with hospice for 6 months and very, very aprehensive about taking this test. I'd like to get some practical information to know if I should wait or give it a try......

Study guides are available on the HPNA website. This is a general knowledge test of the specialty area so if you are brand new to the field you may want to wait another 6 months before attempting this.

I've done just about everything in a hospital setting...med-surg, ortho, neuro, cardio, PCU, oncology, antepartum, postpartum, newborn nursery and even charge nursed on a hectic med-surg unit. I'd like to transition into something new thats not so stressful and hard on the body as I am getting older, so I've considered Palliative Care at the hospital I've worked at for several years since they have an opening. However, since I do not have the CHPN why bother to apply? Though I have 10 years experience I still don't have this required certiification. So can anyone tell me the best way to get into Palliative Care??? I don't have a clue the first thing to do! HELP!!! Thanks!
