Does anyone know anything about the CHOP nurse residency for December graduates? I know the last posting was for those graduating through October. When does CHOP traditionally have postings for nurse resident? Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

Hi. You should keep checking the chop.edu site > Careers, for postings. The information related to who is being interviewed can be found within the job posting. There is only 1 Nurse Residency posting, but there are many, many jobs associated with it. We hire Nurse Residents every 2 -4 weeks.
When you apply, your resume will be reviewed. If you meet qualifications that the recruiters and nursing leadership are looking for, you will be notified more quickly than if you do not meet them. This can take 6-8 weeks. Experiences that are being reviewed include demonstrated excellence in your undergraduate program, including activities, healthcare and hospital experience and working with children (especially in a hospital). A lot of qualified candidates apply for the program and you should expect to have patience while you wait for an interview and, hopefully, an acceptance letter. Always apply for multiple positions outside of CHOP to practice your interview skills and have back-up positions to select from, but plan these accordingly in case you do receive an offer from CHOP.
The Nurse Residency Program is a 12-month long program to develop a nurse in leadership, professionalism, and evidence based practice. Plan to complete an Evidence Based Practice project in that first 12 month while being educated by pediatric experts. Best of luck with your journey.

Hi! I believe the new posting for the December residency is up. I recently applied for the previous residency that went up in August. The process can be kind of lengthy but after some time I was finally offered a position and accepted. I don't start until January but I can give you guys some advice about the process.
I applied online in August and submitted my resume. I was offered a video interview within a week of my application. The interview is kind of awkward, as you are basically just talking to a computer screen. It is timed and the questions can be kind of random. At the end of the interview they ask you to list your top choices of departments that you would like to work on.
One week after my video interview I received an email that I was placed in the New RN Talent Pool. Any new candidate can be in this pool for up to 1 year, or however long it takes to receive a manager level interview, as explained in their email. I was placed in the pool for an entire month before I received a phone call to come in for an in person interview & shadow. It can be pretty discouraging waiting, however, if you are dead set on CHOP (as I was), the wait is worth it.
The in person interview consisted of me meeting with the nurse manager on the specific unit I had been offered. The interview was pretty short and simple. I was asked a few questions to help her better understand who I was and what my experience was thus far (only had clinical experience from nursing school). This was then followed by specific questions required by HR, this only consisted of two pretty basic questions. Once those questions were answered she spoke with me briefly about what the residency was and what I would be expecting. Once that was over I began my shadow experience. You are paired with a nurse to follow around and shadow for a few hours. Use this time to ask as many questions and help yourself stand out!!! They often report back to the manager whether they think you're a good fit or not.
After this interview and shadow experience was over I waited an entire month before I was finally offered the job. The waiting was AWFUL. However, soooo worth it. I am so excited to start at CHOP and I cannot wait to be a CHOP nurse. If you really want CHOP do not let the wait discourage you. Be patient because it will all work out ? Good luck with everything and best of luck with your journey/process!
Hi everyone!
I recently interviewed with CHOP for the January cohort for the residency. The specific position I’m in consideration for is a rotating position throughout 3/4 different floors for your 12 months of orientation. This position does not have a shadow day along with the interview so make sure you nail your in-person interview!!!
I interviewed on the 4th of December and I am still waiting to hear back. I did the video interview first, emailed for in-person interview 4 days later & asked for references before the interview as well. The process was surprisingly easy and quick. The person I interviewed with asked me about myself, my background, and a few personal patient experience questions. I should hear back within the next week or so.
Good luck everyone!

I interviewed 12/4 and I’m still waiting to hear back, hopefully within the next couple of days.
@angief11 okay thank you! Did they give you a timeframe? They didn’t really specify for me but I guess I just have to be patient haha

They told me one and a half to two weeks to hear back. I’ve also heard CHOP can be kind of slow and they also had just switched over their application system when I interviewed which probably doesn’t help either lol
