Chop Nurse Resident 2023

Published

Hi Everyone!

Wanted to start a thread to meet and chat with any new nurses starting the ICU nurse residency this Spring (April 2023).  I'll be in the Nicu East!

Oh okay. Yeah try again and see what happens. The only other thing I can think

of is they may be holding off interviewing for May graduates and focusing on April/March Graduates right now . Definitely keep me posted if you hear anything back from them. I'll be praying for you that you get something soon ? .

I was thinking the same since they had an application for those graduating by march 31! I probably won't even take my NCLEX until July.

thank you so much sweetheart ??

Hi! I applied for the nurse residency medsurg/ED on March 21st. I was just curious if anyone around the same application date has heard anything back yet? I've heard very quickly back from Penn & Jeff so I am just a little worried that I haven't heard back yet. I know they let you know either way, so I shouldn't be worried... but of course my nerves get the best of me LOL. Thanks in advance for any help & best of luck to everyone! ?

Hi I just applied on March 17th and I haven't heard back either yet! I'm thinking they are in between hiring for the March 31st graduates and getting to ours which are up to the July graduates. I hope everyone hears back real soon ?

@Tmicale yeah I feel y'all will hear something back soon. What unit did you apply for? So exciting for you all graduation is just around the corner ????

I applied to the ICUs, what about yourself? The finish line is sooo close I graduate in may ??

That's awesome?.I applied and got hired in the the NICU . I really hope you hear something back soon. I believe depending on the unit (atleast for the Nicu) if you get accepted for an interview you will be able to shadow for a couple hours to see if you like it, which I really liked.

I just got an email to do the one-way interview on Interview Stream. For timeline purposes, my first phone screen was on March 13th! ?

Yay! @momsnbabies973. I do find it strange that I didn't have to do any virtual one way interview. The recruiter just gave me available dates to come in person after my phone screen. But it may be different for other units. Im just glad you heard back and the ball is rolling ! ?

I am at Orientation right now! Do keep in mind you have to pass a Med math exam your second day. But it is so easy! And you get other chances for remediation.

@NurseBaeB if you don't mind me asking how does the pay compare to other positions you applied for? I am from NYC and their starting pay is around $105k

I love CHOP so much that I feel like even if it is significantly lower I can't pass up working there.

Not at all ?.  Nurses in nurse residency make about 39 dollars an hour starting out. When you complete your first year it gets brought up to $46 dollars an hour. If you aren't a new nurse you start out making $46 dollars an hour. It is a really nice hospital. The people are all so welcoming. Haven't got on to me unit yet but I'm hoping that's a good experience as well!

Any new updates this week?
