Hi Everyone!
Wanted to start a thread to meet and chat with any new nurses starting the ICU nurse residency this Spring (April 2023). I'll be in the Nicu East!

Hi! I just wanted to ask, I recently applied for CHOP residency and I am anxiously awaiting to hear back! Its my dream hospital and so I'm very excited but I wanted to ask if you like it and how you feel about the rotating shifts. I heard they mandated those for everyone so its both night shift and day shift and I was aiming to just get days but now I don't think that's a possibility? Also, do you feel like the interview process was really hard? lmk!

Hi! I just recently applied to the awaiting PA license nurse residency and this is my dream hospital too! I have been in contact with someone who is in the nurse residency program in the NICU and I think that rotating shifts are mandatory. It looks like its 3 weeks on days, 3 weeks on nights, and switches back and forth. I got an email yesterday for a one-way video interview. I spent a lot of time preparing for it and it ended up not being a video interview but 4 written responses and 1 multiple choice question. Basically just asking about your experience and what units you prefer. I will keep you updated on anything new that pops up!

Congratulations! I did too actually! I just did it yesterday! Let's definitely keep in touch so we can communicate further about our experiences! I am just nervous about switching back and forth for shifts because it'll be hard on the body but ik that its worth it to be in the hospital.

Thank you and congrats to you too!! For sure, it will be nice to have someone to talk to during this process ? I am worried about that too... it's definitely interesting because I've never seen a hospital make everyone do rotating shifts before. I hope it won't be too difficult, but like you said, I'm just going to be grateful if I get the job

Exactly! I feel the same way I haven't seen a hospital do that either so we shall see. If you want to email me and then I can give you my number from there!
Hi! I just came across this. I had an in person interview/shadowing last Wednesday. I haven't heard back from anyone until this morning. The recruiter contacted me and told me she would like to know how the interview and shadowing went. I'm speaking with her later today. I'm definitely a little nervous and not feeling hopeful. Hopefully I get the job. Has anyone else had to speak with the recruiter after their interview/shadowing?
