@Tmicale the phone interview is basically asking you about your past experiences (if you've worked as a nurse on any unit), situational questions like mentioned, and how much new residents get paid which is about 39 dollars base not including night differentials. After you've been there for a year, it goes up to 46 dollars an hour, I would just think of certain situational questions and develop questions. One may be how would you handle a rude patient or possibly a rude parent? Another question would be are you a team player?, how would you help another coworker on the unit? If you catch a coworker breaking protocols what would you do? (Would you report to management or just say nothing? etc etc)

Not at all ?. Nurses in nurse residency make about 39 dollars an hour starting out. When you complete your first year it gets brought up to $46 dollars an hour. If you aren't a new nurse you start out making $46 dollars an hour. It is a really nice hospital. The people are all so welcoming. Haven't got on to me unit yet but I'm hoping that's a good experience as well!

Yay! @momsnbabies973. I do find it strange that I didn't have to do any virtual one way interview. The recruiter just gave me available dates to come in person after my phone screen. But it may be different for other units. Im just glad you heard back and the ball is rolling ! ? I am at Orientation right now! Do keep in mind you have to pass a Med math exam your second day. But it is so easy! And you get other chances for remediation.

That's awesome?.I applied and got hired in the the NICU . I really hope you hear something back soon. I believe depending on the unit (atleast for the Nicu) if you get accepted for an interview you will be able to shadow for a couple hours to see if you like it, which I really liked.

@Tmicale yeah I feel y'all will hear something back soon. What unit did you apply for? So exciting for you all graduation is just around the corner ????

Oh okay. Yeah try again and see what happens. The only other thing I can think of is they may be holding off interviewing for May graduates and focusing on April/March Graduates right now . Definitely keep me posted if you hear anything back from them. I'll be praying for you that you get something soon ? .

Really? Im very surprised your recruiter didn't give you an interview date after the phone screen? If you feel comfortable, I would maybe reach out to the recruiter cause technically is been about 2 weeks since you've heard anything, and you want an update.

Oh gotcha! And no worries LOL. That's awesome though! You already have some experience to draw from. The interview was very laid back to be quite honest. I had one manager interview me that's it. Basic questions... " why do you want to work here " , "how would you describe your self In one word?” " Tell me about a time you saw something that was unethical and how did you respond" questions like those were asked... The manager was really nice and helped me to feel comfortable because I was very nervous ! It lasted probably 30 minutes because most of the time spent is the manager explaining the job/residency etc and giving you a tour of the unit, then you shadow for 7 hours and go home.

Nice! By preceptorship do you mean clinicals in the Nicu? It's a very nice Unit! I loved that I got an opportunity to shadow the unit after my interview ! I made sure to apply for the Intensive care unit nurse resident one. Because I was only interested in the Nicu and not the general peds population.

Hi! yes the application process happened very quick for me. All together it only took 1 week to hear back from Chop after applying. And another week and a half to get my interview and get a job offer. When I applied I got a email from a recruiter about a week or so after applying. The email was to set up a phone screening. After I did my phone screen was then brought in for a in person interview. After your interview , depending on the unit you are applying for you will get 7 hours to shadow on the floor. I got an offer back within 3-4 days after my in person interview. What unit did you apply for ?

Hi Everyone! Wanted to start a thread to meet and chat with any new nurses starting the ICU nurse residency this Spring (April 2023). I'll be in the Nicu East!
