CHOC Children's RN Residency August 2020

Hi everyone! I thought I would start a thread for CHOC Children's RN Residency that is starting in August 2020. I'm super excited to be applying to the NICU!

Fingers crossed for some good news in the coming months!

does that mean they're not hiring for the NICU this round or?

I've been told by someone working in NICU at CHOC right now that NICU should be hiring this round because they didn't hire any last round in order to prepare for this new cohort. I believe they should be hiring this time.

does CHOC usually abide by their timeline or is that just a rough estimate?

Sorry, no I don't know how many people NICU is looking for.

Does anyone know if CHOC sends out rejection letters if you are not selected?

That is exciting to hear though, they are actually hiring this round. I know one year NICU hired 10 applicants, I hope its gonna look like that for this revamped program!

Yes, I believe they send out rejection letters

I heard that NICU was thinking of hiring 8-10 people but I know that can change on their end depending on their needs, etc.

Not sure if it's helpful, but I had a conversation with their nurse recruiter just before the application opened. I applied last round to NICU at Mission and she told me they did hire last round for the unit, but ONLY internal (I was not internal.) I remember following the thread for that cohort and NICU seemed to be the last to hear then as well. According to the recruiter, they were hoping to extend offers to external applicants this time, but I think it's hard to know until applications are received. Obviously they give preference first to internal applicants. I did receive a notification of not selected last round, so everyone should hear one way or the other! I wish everyone the best of luck! And like she said, if you don't get it the first or second time you apply, KEEP APPLYING! (They get SO many applications!) ? ?

I was told by PICU that I would hear back after the weekend, about 2 weeks ago.. but my application still says under consideration. so maybe thats a good sign and they're just taking a little longer than anticipated
