CHOA Nurse Externship

Published

I wanted to start a thread for the fellow nursing students that have recently applied for the CHOA nursing externship for 2015. I had a digital interview a couple of days ago but have not heard back. Anyone else?

My thoughts exactly! I couldn't have said it any better! I will definitely let you know whether or not I hear anything by the end of next week. If not, I'll just leave it at that and pursue other opportunities, as you said earlier. Best of luck to you! We just have to believe that we'll eventually end up where we're supposed to be. Can't be disappointed in trying your best! :)

I completely agree! Good luck to you too! :)

I have no idea!! I wish we had more information given to us for some peace of mind! It's just stressful trying to plan your summer and judge how far you want to go with other possible externships when you still have CHOA as your number one. But we don't know whether or not we're still in the running to potentially be hired! I know of one person who was officially accepted to work on the NICU unit at CHOA this summer. She was notified via email to schedule a phone interview shortly after receiving her phone call that she was moving on in the application process. A few days after her phone interview, she got another call saying she had been accepted. According to my friend, she was told that 5 people got phone calls to be interviewed for the NICU and only 3 were accepted. Of course, every unit could be different! I just don't know how much hope I should sustain and for how much longer before I need to move on and plan for a different route this summer.

Oh man, that's discouraging. I had a phone interview with the NICU last week but never heard back. darn. :(

Don't give up just yet! My friend also mentioned that for the NICU, final selections would be made by next Friday (Feb 27) so there's still some time left for that unit! She just may have been the first to go through everything. I hope this news keeps you feeling optimistic and I wish you good luck!

Thank you - you're so kind! This is why I love the nursing community :inlove:

But yes, during my phone interview I was also told the 27th! My interview was this past Thursday, and I followed-up after my interview and sent thank you notes to my interviewers...but I wasn't as prompt with that as I should have been.

Anyways, best of luck to you as well! It's just so nerve-wracking to just wait around... and keep waiting..haha!

Don't give up hope yet! It would be very rude if you made it that far in the process and they never emailed or called to tell you their decision. So hopefully you'll hear something soon! Waiting is definitely the worst part though haha

Interviewed last week, it's official, got the offer letter in . I just need to submit my background check stuff.

Congratulations, that's awesome! Which unit will you be in?

Just to make sure I'm not alone here, I'm not the only one who hasn't been contacted about an interview yet? I'm being considered for the PICU at Scottish Rite but have not had an interview yet. This should be the week to hear back, right?

I just received a call from the transplant unit! I have a face to face interview Wednesday. :)

That's great news! Congrats!

Has anyone heard anything about the PICU at Egleston? I was told I was being considered for that unit but have not heard anything yet. Hopefully they just haven't made calls yet :)
