CHLA RN Residency September 2013

Published

Hi Nurses :)

Wanted to start a new forum for those of you applying for the RN New Grad Program for the Spetemper 2013 cohort.

Heres the Link: http://www.chla.org/site/c.ipINKTOAJsG/b.3929777/k.E91E/Nursing_Career_Opportunities.htm#.UT6aKo7fRdQ

Applications opened today so best of luck to all who apply!

OH ps I called CHLA and got a recording with the same info others have gotten. They're gonna start looking at apps this week and next and will start calling people in mid may and if you don't get a call they'll send you an email. Let's hope we get calls!! Also a quick question, I think some people said they had applied to the program once before and are reapplying. Did the hospital give you any feedback about what you could do to increase your chances of getting an interview?

Thanks!!!

Thanks for update ocennia, appreciate it. Dont know why they are dragging their feet so much. Lets hope its because they wanted to wait and add more spots for us :)

I called CHLA and got that same recording today also. I can only imagine how many calls they get asking the same thing!

Also I'm pretty sure the message said that the managers would begin reviewing the applications this week and next, and they would start calling for interviews the beginning of may and if you don't hear by mid-may you can assume you didn't get it.

fyi just listened to it again and it did say the beginning of may

Awesome gastro2012, thank you for the clarification. Hate the waiting so much....

@Ocennia, I applied for the last cohort and was the alternate for the floor I applied for (so if one of the people they'd hired dropped out, I would have been the first they'd call). (As if anyone would turn down CHLA!) I spoke to the nurse recruiter and she said my application was good and to just email the managers to let them know I was applying again. To give you an idea of my resume, I had a 4.0 GPA, not much experience working in health care but lots of experience volunteering, and did my nursing capstone in the specialty area where I applied.

I bet you'll get it this time. What unit did you apply for?

BMT and Heme/Onc. Thanks, I really hope it works out this time!

4.0? That's pretty impressive! Where did you go to school?

@babyrn88: were you an alternate for BMT or heme/onc (or both)?

Just wondering if anyone has gotten a call yet? I got a voicemail this morning from someone at CHLA who just said she was calling about my application...no other details left on the vm. So I have no idea if I got an interview or not because she hasn't been at her desk when I've tried to call back. Waiting now to hear back from her since I left her a vm.

I was also wondering if I should expect her to ask me any screening or interview type questions when she calls back...just want to be prepared.

Good luck everyone!
